As we all know, dealers usually replace parts instead of fixing them. Looking at the intake manifold, it look to me that it should be feasible to clean the intake by using some flexible long brush (like oversized pipe cleaner brush).

Onto the fourth month. I'm not hearing anything from my dealer. Is anyone with a parked car any closer to getting their car back?

oh, I know how you feel. I have had my car at the dealer since dec 24 and still don't know the exact date when I will get it back. But at least they do keep me in the loop and I hear something at least once a week.

I would not pay. If they knew they are not able to do it then they should have send it out the first time.

i didnt and they ended up replacing the EGR under their warranty since its their part that failed (even tho i ahd to point that otu to them as they asked to approve charged for $1k+ to replace it...) and carbon cleaning on intake valve and cylinder wall. car runs fine now but alas CEL wont go away...

now they are saying a collant temp sensor $500 job needs repalcing adn another fuel injector- this time #2... not doing either right now

I hope you are putting a bunch of miles on the 2013/2014 loaner car.
I hope you made a phone call to to BMW NA to express your frustration.

The 320i has no power. I'm gentle with loaners and rentals so I haven't tried but I'd be surprised if I could.

I've put 4000+ miles on the loaner so far.

I agree when it comes to loaners no reason to abuse them, we have to be glad dealers are willing to lend vehicles, in old days they din't care if you were immobilized I have loaded my loaner with over 12,000 miles before they have changed it to a different one

first it was delayed as puma couldn't make up their mind for walnut blasting, then they waited for the actual tool to come in to the dealer, then self fastening screws (took 3 weeks for them to arrive ) then air mass flow sensor then some other sensor (don't remember as it was all in the conversation and I don't have the final work papers yet), last part was the injector (one despite the fact I asked them to change them all but they go by puma and the codes) now they still have two codes popping up which I don't even ask anymore as I am done getting frustrated

After the carbon cleaning, the real fix is 6 new injectors and a new DDE. I had it all done at my local dealer and so far the car has been reliable. I hate to even type that for fear of jinxing myself.

Self fastening screws? Did they build you a new intake from wood?

So, i heard from my SA. I don't know what all happened but i had 1 injector replaced last month, then they swapped the injectors around (shocking that did nothing). Now they are ordering a new DDE. Thanks to you all for enabling me to educate them on what really needed to be replaced. They finally took your advice!!

I hope with clean intake, clean cylinder head, at least 1 new injector and a new DDE that things will start running smoothly.

Now all i need to do is figure out what other modifications i should do that you all have educated me about. I'm feeling a little preventive spending is in order. Protect the injectors, physical/chemical/software approaches to reduce Carbon buildup, insure reliability of the post-combustion containment of the stream of hot gasses. I will be looking now to better understand the consequences of any/all of those modifications before spending any money.

I had many issues with my 2009 335d. They replaced many things to make the SES light go away. When I recommended to them to replace the DDE, they said no. I still have 25k miles before my CPO warranty runs out and hopefully they will replace my DDE before I hit 100k miles.

I recommended to dealer and BMWNA multiple times each. Tell dealer every day. Call BMW to reinforce your position. Mention that you know from the forums what has worked.

I have no idea if my words helped my cause but I'm getting what I asked for!

Lucy you, I have been telling them about DDE and replacing all injectors and not just one but all I get back is "puma does not let us do all at once if there is no errors" I am so so frustrated by now
