Good seeing you guys last weekend...(E92SID and jtmmcabe)

Good seeing you guys at the track last weekend. Hope you had fun both driving and riding with an instructor.

I rode with Jim Leithauser, who, in his brand new Z4 3.0 coupe was absolutely destroying everyone out there. He was running faster times (as an instructor, he can use the trackmate to time himself) than the full-on race cars and was matching the times put out by C6 Z06s at other events driven by less capable drivers. He just reminded me how much I have yet to learn.

Not too much carnage this weekend. My buddy's subie blew its engine and I watched an E46 M3 fly off the track in Turn 1 (YIKES!) and an E30M3 go off the track in Turn 6. Both off-roading adventures happened right in front of me!

NASA has an event on July 12-13 at Pueblo that's $250 for both days. If you guys are interested, let me know and we can share a hotel room.

That was a blast! All the people where great, especially the instructors. It was really cool to take my car on the track and see what it can do. I was pretty impressed with the handling. I even got it to 120 on the straight away. I know thats nothing though compaired to your 140. But it was really fun!

Yeah most people are surprised at how great our cars handle, in stock configuration. I know turn10 is a bit scary, but with a bit more speed through there, you can easily hit 125mph at the end of the front straight on a stock car.

I heard good things from your instructors too, so congrats on that. Hope to see you at the track again sometime.

Good seeing you guys too... it was a blast! I wasn't feeling too confident during the first two runs but once I started to learn the track it was a lot more fun. Unfortunately I can't afford to beat up on the car like that too often, but I'll definitely try to do it again in the fall.

If you want to have some driving fun but don't want to beat up on the car as much there's always autocrossing... Well less wear-and-tear depending on how aggressive you are autocrossing of course I took the autocross school a couple years back (pretty similar to the car control clinic from the sounds of it) and that was a lot of fun; thinking about entering some actual events this summer.

Yeah I tried autox and simply could not get into it. You stand around all day in a parking lot and drive FOUR MINUTES.

And you're lucky to get out of 2nd gear or faster than 60mph. There is little in autox that compares to a full neutral drift at 80+ mph, like you achieve at 6a-6b at Pueblo. Or getting on the brakes hard to slow the car from 140mph down to the 85mph to enter Turn1.

Different strokes...

LOL, I think you know that E30M3 flying off turn 6 was me, you must have been in JL's car as I think he was one back behind the EVO that was right behind me. One of those cases of taking the safe(est) way out. I had been running street tires and was flying up 5 and into 6 with no braking or lift and I fly through 6 into 7 as fast as anybody in that little M3. But I switched before lunch to r-comps and that gave me an extra few mphs and by the time they got hot, I carried too much speed into 6 that time, still no brake or lift. Since the EVO was RIGHT behind me, I didn't want to try to save it and get sideways in front of him or go over the curbing sideways, so I just drove straight off to keep it all clean as possible.

It was great seeing everyone's 335i's there.

Haha - I didn't want to point anyone out. But it was quite entertaining to watch.

I hope that when that happens to me, I have the presence of mind to do the right thing like that.

FWIW - I really really like the Nitto NT01. Not quite as fast as the Victoracers, but I got 9 solid days out of them. I rotated them like a madman, flipped em on the rims after day 5 and I wore them to the point where there were no grooves and no drill marks! No chunking, no blistering, no splice of doom. I probably could have done another half a day, but I figure I didn't want to discover cords at 100mph+
