Steve - if I were in the same shoes as you (not knowing what your problems are); I would go for the 335. For one thing; you would get a bit of money back, and you would still own a fantastic car.

You'd have thought that I'd be the first to spout endlessly about the positives of the 335i... however, given that Steve is coming from an M6 and is thinking about an M3, I think the 335i in it's standard form would be a little underwhelming. To get the 335i really going and handling to at least the standards of the M3, well, you need to chuck a fair bit of money at it. You'd probably spend less than an M3 however - it's more a question of whether Steve would have the inclination to do all the modifications... A remap alone isn't really enough, although it would be mighty quick in a straight line.

I can concur with Tony Toni Tone - ive had a 335i and although it was a quick car stock i had to throw quite a bit of money at it to get to a more interesting level of performance and even then it had a number of shortcomings - the transition from an M6 to even a modified 335 would be stark and to use Big Tones words "underwhelming!"
