Your right the fin density does look really low, but I just checked the AA website and their fin density looks exactly the same.

This just shows, if you do your homework you could save a lot of $$$.

Yeah because every vendor who sells an intercooler will attempt to prove that their is worth twice the price that you can get this one for.

It might well be that this one is inferior to those sold on here, but I would like some hard evidence before I believe that

The fin density is a BIG clue as to the quality of a core.

Can we find out the fin density for sure before making any assumptions?

Not calling you out Andy, just saying let's not jump the gun here to the rest of the members.

Also, datalogging will be crucial with some pulls and specific info (like temp, humidity, etc) tied to it.

The endtanks are not the most ideal IMO, too many square edges...but it does look like AA core from the pics...

Very creative thinking but isn't there a point of diminished returns if you go too big? Boost drop or the more obvious question of how you get airflow to even half of something that much bigger than any possible air inlet?

I count 18 rows on the AA and 17 on Big Tom's. Dyno results would be awesome though.
