I have been offered a job in the DFW area (about 7 miles from the airport) and I am about 80% sure that I will be taking it.

Since I am relocating from houston - i have no freaking clue where to look for apartments. The company is giving me a very generous relocation package, and I'd like to find something thats somewhat close to my office (within 10-15 minute drive) but is in a pretty decent area with a garage so my baby can sleep safely at night.

Any suggestions?

7 miles from the airport is a very broad "area". What city is the office located. It might be easier to go from there

Irving has a good selection of apartments, plenty of nicer ones with garages around Las Colinas off 114 or around MacArthur and 635. Further north you have Grapevine and Coppell, to the west Southlake and Keller. North Dallas isn't too far from Irving either. There is a lot of construction on 121 and 114 but that is west of Irving and the Airport, I would avoid coming to Irving from that direction.

What a perfect timing for this thread. I am actually here in Irving today, interviewing some people and checking out some places. My office is also in Irving, so I am planning to look in Las Colinas and Valley Ranch. Like you I want to keep my commute limited.

Welcome guys! Lived in Las Colinas area now currently in Valley Ranch. Very nice apts with garage around the Riverside/Royal Ln area of Las Colinas. Both it and VR have lots of places with attached garages. Best part is TONS of restaurants, Wal-Mart, Target, Kroger, etc so the shopping will be pretty close by. Wife and I Love it here and wouldn't move anywhere else. We enjoy being centrally located and close to the airport.

Check out La Villita area of Las Colinas...absolutely beautiful. Miss it a lot

Las Colinas is probably your best bet if you're working near DFW. I used to live in downtown Las Colinas, and there are some nice lofts and apartments out there. Very centrally located, safe area, shopping and restaurants nearby, plus some quiet/nice neighborhoods close by, too, if you'll be looking for houses.

+1 Have a few friends that live in thoes communties, very nice and safe. The garage is connected to the appointment which is very nice. I work in Las Colinas area as well, the only thing I hate about it is avoid Mcarthur from 11.30-1.30pm, its crazy traffic.

Im just going to put a map of Las Colinas on a wall and throw a dart..Which ever complex is nearest to the dart, I will move into. Since I really have no idea or history, they all look nice to me.

i just remembered how much i hate apartment hunting. every place i see that seems decent gets terrible reviews.

I have lived all around the airport in different apartments for the past 8 years. Currently im 2 mins north of the airport in grapevine and this is my favorite complex ive ever lived in. Good security, granite, wood floors, stainless,badass pool, amazing women, etc.... check it out and let me know what you think.

You have tons of option if you are in Las Colinas area. All are pretty new and good. The location is also centrally located between Dallas and Ft Worth.

The rent is in the $1xxx range.

Thanks for the offer. I was only in town for a couple days and those tornados kinda put a damper in my looking. But I was able to look at a place, and got it. At the end of April I will be a resident of Las Colinas. I am going to miss so cal, but I am looking forward to exploring Texas.
