I live in a warmer climate so I almost never used it. While I would expect some degree of air-flow reduction, it probably won't be too bad, as long as you do not block off the majority of the opening with an oversized tweeter mounting plate.

What is everyone using to mount their tweeter with? I've been trying to think of something but haven't come up with anything I feel comfortable using. I don't want my tweeter falling down the vent when I hit a bump.

WRT the airflow - there's a noticeable drop in air flow from the vent where the tweeter is attached but it's not caused any problems with defrosting. |

It's a very complicated and costly upgrade. Not recommended. As suggested above, you can go aftermarket and get better results for less money. READ.

Is there a viable coaxial replacement speaker for the center channel? I am not liking the thought of blocking that vent if I can help it.

I live in Colorado and did mine . . I dont notice much of a difference with the defrost . . you can always take it out if you have problems but you wont. And you dont notice the missing tweeter in the back speaker. The tweeter is plug and play except for the defrost bracket you have to make so you can always move it back it you want.
