ABS light on...pls help

hey guys, ABS and another two lights on recently... it came up and went off itself once restart the engine and run a few miles...

Checked OBDII and codes having:
5df0 - pump unit faulty
5df1 - pump unit plug faulty

Someone told me that it is common error for the pump module in 07 E9X cars and it costs a fortune to replace it (over US$2k )....

Anyone had similar issue before and any potential solution? Thanks a lot.

That sucks, but it's amazing because it JUST happened to me as well.

We're driving along in our '07 E91 6sp with cruise control engaged at 70 MPH, and all of a sudden I hear a boing and the Brake, ABS, DSC and ABS Service indicators light up all and cruise control disengages. Kind of freaky but the car still drives, and the lights turned on and off a few times and then remained on for the rest of the drive home.

My wife snapped this:

The car has <40,000 miles on it, and luckily I did buy the extended "Gold" warranty from BMW for it. Ugh.

most likely busted wheel speed sensor or steering angle sensor.

I hope it's that simple. I was reading this thread that seems to indicate the same: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114755

Update 4/13:

I checked the error with my Bavarian Technic scan tool and it turns out it's just a wheel sensor gone bad.

Actually it turned out my wheel sensor was ok - it performed it's duty by sensing a different speed on one wheel than the other three, due to a slight wobble caused by a bad bearing.

The SA told me the bearing part itself is not expensive but the labor would have run the bill up over $1k had I not purchased the Gold 7/70 extended warranty.

I've had a bad sensor on a Honda Accord once and that was easy to replace DIY; can't tell you if it'd be the same for an E9x.

I had these errors come up this morning, on my way to work, driving with the cruise one at 64 mph. Car still drove okay, but DSC is disabled and I couldn't re-activate it.

From what I read, there are a few different reasons for this to happen:
1. Faulty wheel speed sensor
2. Faulty steering angle sensor
3. Faulty wheel bearing
4. Faulty DSC hydro unit (fix could be as expensive as $2,400.00)

I'm glad I bought extended warranty.

UPDATE: Started my car after work and all three errors came on for about a minute and then disappeared. Nothing showed up through the 10 mile drive back home but I did not activate cruise control. The DTC/DSC switch now enables and disables both features as it would under normal operation.

That said, I did make an appointment for mid next week to get it checked out and will probably drive the wife's car to work a couple of days this week and on the days that I still drive my car, will closely monitor th situation. I may try cruise control again to see if I replicates this issue.

I beleive I am having the same issue. Traction control light came on and stayed on, the "BRAKE" light is on lit up in yellow, I am getting warning messages for DSC malfunction, start-off assistance inactive,DBC malfunction. Also after all these warnings popped up my turn signal does not shut off after I turn, I have to manually shut it off. All this happened out of nowhere. Has anyone else experienced this?

Best scenario, ABS cable malfunctioning. Worst case, ABS pump faulty...

hey I had this same problem and when it was checked the battery was bad...It was reading 10 volts and it dropped to 8 volts with load test. For some unknown reason when the battery is going dead these are the first indicators that pop up malfunction warnings that pop up. Only cost me a new battery and reprogramming

'07 with 39k. My issues seem like a it is the SAS after researching. It is kinda wierd becasue the malfunction messages come and go everytime I drive it. They will just shut off after driving and then come back later on.

My friend and I are facing the same problem. All three warning lights on for us, but his stays on permanently while mine comes and goes. He has both error codes 5df0 & 5df1, I haven't had mine checked yet. He's driving 07 E93 335, mine is 07 E90 330. So like other's here, we're 2007 e9xes.

I've noticed there are two part numbers with two different prices; Repair kit, control unit DSC (US$850) and Hydro unit DSC (US$1446). Given the error codes he has, which part would he need to buy?

5df0 - pump unit faulty = Repair Kit, control unit DSC?
5df0 & 5df1 - pump unit plug faulty = Hydro unit DSC?

Please advise!

I hope BMW recognizes this and does a recall fast!

typical problem for 07 335i DSC unit which is acknowledged by bmw dealer...seems the pump is dead thus you need the whole unit i.e. Hydro unit DSC the more expensive one...
