Spent a few hours today on the 330d, pics on my garage. I was expecting better but it's still acceptable.

Hi i also used zymol recently ,what i thought was on the second attempt it was far easier and a better result jus my opinion the car looks great .

For some reason I was expecting a shine 1/4 inch (6 mm) deep and it wasn't

I use Zymol Ital and find it superb, the best I`ve ever used. Doesn`t matter what you use though, the results will always be based on the prep.

I think it looks great.

I recently started to use Auotglym Aqua Wax. Very easy to apply while the car is still wet and takes less than one hour to wash and wax the whole car.



Leaves a good smear free finish.

Which Zymol wax/glaze did you use Andy? I've always been stunned by how good Zymol results are compared to the other products. The prep and wax does take blody ages though But I quite enjoy it

It looks great to me. Did you clay it at all? IMHO a few hours isn't enough to have done the complete zymol process properly - probably more like 4-5+, if you clayed it then more like a whole day. I clayed mine and a reasonable amount of crap came off - and that is all detracting from the shine/reflection.

OK, so I've now gone out and bought a complete meguiars kit of everything, with clay bar etc etc... and also some zymol wax.

I guess the order to do things is to wash fully first, then clay?? And sounds like a stupid question, but how do you use a clay bar properly? What technique is advised? The rest is easy.. have double buckets with grit guards etc... and more microfibre cloths and terry cloths than I can imagine!!

For what it's worth, I've tried most of them, and for me Zymol was no real advantage over cheaper waxes, I tried to convice myself Zymol was good because of the cost, I now use P21S which gives me just as good a result, and is by far the easiest to use.

The depth of shine with Zymol I don't really find to be any better than any other product on the day that you put it on. The real results are the longevity and the ease of cleaning the next time around.

I have got some clay in, but haven't summoned up the courage to use it yet. You might want to take a look here or here Tony for some pointers.

Yep, wash, then clay. To use the clay bar you make sure you've got PLENTY of lubrication on the car and then just glide it over if I recall correctly (it's been about 5-6 months since my first time!) if you got the meg's smooth surface clay kit you should get instructions with it. Do a section that's not so important first, wipe off the lubrication and feel the paintwork - if it feels smooth and there's no marring you've done it right! If you feel it catching on the paintwork then you are going over an area where there's no lubrication. I did that a few times but the Meg's kit seems pretty safe to be honest.

You got some Zymol Field Glaze too I presume?

+1. In fact ignore what I said and look at Polished Bliss's guide as I followed that when I did it first time. And if you didn't buy your stuff from them do so next time as they are ace

I recently tried Zymol's Detail Spray which if you read the ingredients only really differs from Field Glaze by a small percentage of carnauba content but in use it was rubbish by comparison - half the price but not worth scrimping on.

You got a decent wheel brush? I use the Meg's safe wheel brush but just need to be careful around the brakes as the tip came off mine and then caused a bit of scratching which Meg's are now sorting and reckon was due to me using it in tight areas

I used the Zymol HD cleanse then Titanium wax, I was a bit reluctant to try clay, and convinced myself as it looks pretty smooth then it wasn't essential. It may be my imagination but it looked a deeper shine today. For the money I paid I was expecting something several times better than autoglym which I have always used previously, I'm sure it was better just not 6 times better.

Have you any Zymol glaze or wax (ie in a tub not a bottle)? AFAIK the field glaze is just for top ups of the wax between major applications. You may not get the best results mixing Megs and Zymol, however. May be better to stick to one brand. With Zymol, you need the HD Cleanse after washing (and after claying if appropriate) to strip old wax, tar etc off , and then apply your wax. The finish and protection will then be second to none.

Regardless, having now spent the cash on all the bits, you're on the verge of an unhealthy obsession. Enjoy!!!

Yes, I have the Zymol concours wax too - all £170 worth of it!! shocking!

Was reading the polished bliss website (amazing detail..) and they say that for metallic paint cars, then a sealant maybe better than just using a zymol wax, as the finish is deeper and more reflective. Then they go on to say that with some sealants, you can actually wax on top of it and layer the protection...

Was looking at the Poorboys Ex-sealant, followed by the Zymol concours wax... thoughts anyone on this combination?? Wash, clay, HD cleanse, sealant, wax (and a spare day to do all of that in...)

Oh dear, a clear case of detailing obsession doctor. There's nothing we can do!!

Not aware of the sealant then wax combo, let us know how it goes and please post some pics when you've done. And BTW I think that'll be a really long day!
