Huge Losses on the Market

Anybody else get bent over today by the markets?

I'm still coming to terms with such a huge one day loss, I was a CLICK away from taking profits yesterday, but all my holdings started to rally into the later hours of trading and I was like hmmm... let's give it another day maybe pickup a bit more.... DAMN... anybody else throw away an e90 X-drive for winter?

Sold everything Monday morning as It was obvious. I did lose but not as much as I could have

Yeah, I was going to sell out Tuesday morning, but I wokeup later and I started to see a bit of a rally in the later hours... so I held off... today I never got to my laptop until after trading hours to witness the carnage.

Stupid billionaires need to stop dumping silver and manipulating markets.

Wow really? I've made a KILLING since the Japan disaster, there was a dip right after, but since then it's been pretty good.

Really hope this isn't the beginning of a new trend

Greece default- it was just delayed, only a matter of time. US default - don't worry, it's either coming or they will get away from it by intentionally devaluating the currency and losing their word currency status. As soon as the banks start losing $, they will stop lending money or raise interest rates sharply to recoup their losses which in return will create chaos on the markets and make you and me pay for it. I'm not even talking Italy, Portugal, Spain, Ireland and Iceland - natural disasters, Iran, Syria, Libya or the next US elections. Next year will be a bad one in my books.

Combine potential US intrest hikes with the fact that 30% of American's have negative equity in their homes and you further the economic catastrophe. You will see the negative equity number hit 40-50%.

The US needs to clawback significant defense spending and invest within their borders. Its going to get even uglier down south.

i still made a killing of silver i sold early and i still have bell stocks which dropped a bit...but fucking nortel i still have no idea whaat to do with those stocksmy grandpa gave it to us before he passed away =/

I'm invested in uranium and tech.... both down today... but not by anything disastrous... I'll just wait for it to eventually go back up.

For sure a bad day.

Good opportunities soon to come for those with cash on the sidelines. Irrational selling in some sectors and in some companies who are doing well and should do very well especially in tumultuous times, just my opinion. Good time for value investing.

yep, waiting for this opportunity for along time. Sold off all of my core holdings last week and sitting in cash..waiting...

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're still very young (potentially HS?). If you want to get started understanding investing and stocks, I would highly recommend you start with the basics and start watching / reading the news to see and understand all the stuff happening in the world. Stuff happening in other parts of the world can have a real impact on us here when it comes to this stuff (just look at our gas prices!). Wouldn't hurt to take a couple of economics courses and there is always Google to the rescue.
