Here is a comparison between MOB's tuned 330d and a standard 335d. The graph suggests that the remapped 330d should be quicker than a standard 335d.
Goes to show that comparing the figures is not enough and the way the power is delivered can be very important. |

First Remapped car was a manual 330D, had 3 car Remapped since 535D, RS4 and just recently 335i and even though the Remap on my current car is fantastic the one that sticks in my mind is the 330D, not because it was faster than the others it was just that whoosh of power and torque when the turbo kicked in, it brought a smile to my face EVERY time |

Sorry both the lines are in red - it won't let me change it.
The higher line is obviously the tuned 335d. These graphs are just to give an idea - for a proper test we would want to have them dynoed back to back. |

Hmmm I'd say the delivery is quite different, if you look at the graphs you can just about see the steeper climb of the remapped 330d before 2500rpm (whizz bang effect) compared to the 335d, but thereafter the 330d has shot it's lot in comparison and the 335d continues to climb or maintain power and torque. its true, the 335d pulls like a train to 5k and whizzes round to it.

Yep - we have seen more torque than that. As I said not scientific at all as not all carried out back to back with exactly same strapping methods. Just need you and MOB down here for a session for a proper comparison. |

It's a good comparison and gives owners of each car a guide to what the differences are. That said the figures for the 330d are mightily impressive and I can undersand the comments from the owners reference the impressive delivery. Jules. |

Some fantastic and informative replies there gents; thanks to ALL who have contributed !
Imran: the graphs have been particularly informative, as it shows that in fact, the 330d, when re-mapped, seems to be slightly quicker than the 335d (although, as has been suggested, the smoothness of the pick-up will be lesser, due to the 335`s extra turbo) scooba0010: I have actually driven Ant`s 330d, and yes, it is absolutely awesome. It does, however, have various other mods, including full exhaust system, different CAIS, and possibly a different intercooler (though I`m not sure on the latter), so I`m not really using that as an indicator at the moment, as initially, I`m just looking for a re-map, with nothing else. Only problem now is where to go...............! I`ve actually dealt with Ant already (my alloys "saga" ), and I found him to be a TOP bloke to deal with, and would do business with him anytime. The only minus point about getting Ant to do the map is that he has no rolling-road at his premises, and whilst the old "arse-dyno" is always the one that tells the tale, ie: how quick the car feels to drive/how well it pulls, etc.., it`s always nice to see how it compares from standard, on a rolling road. From reading various posts on here, it would also appear that Imran, and the guys at Evolve, are excellent to deal with as well, and the fact that they have a rolling road at their premises is a major bonus. They are, however, miles away from me, whereas Speed Religion is literally 10 minutes from where I live.......... A difficult choice then, but a good one to have to make !

I can give a very good indication of how a stock manual 330d would do as my 325d was tuned to the same level as a stock 330d.
I managed : 0-60 in 5.9s 0-100 in 15.4s 1/4 mile in 15.0s @ 95mph |

Why not map with Ant and find a independant Dyno locally, and get a run done before as stock and then another after the map. Saves driving millions of miles.

how did you get the other increments? i think it would take more than 0.4 secs to do 5mph.

It`s an idea Carl, as you say, would negate the need to drive miles. Needs some thought, cheers.
