Its official Alto BMW have just lost there BMW dealership. I don't know about BMW Aus being taken to court by Alto but if so it has definitely lost because i got the letter today stating they are getting taken over very soon.

Funny you know, but when I was at uni waiting for an interview, who should i be sitting next to, but a tech from Alto Artarmon?
What an interesting conversation, for both parties, lol Loosing their dealership to none other then Audi, which must mean that the Audi place up the road is closing too? Or that they are just moving in there instead...

Reminds me of a story I heard a while back;
A guy walked into his dealer and asked them to pop the used air filter in his boot when they had done changing it... When he got back to his car after they "serviced it", he checked in the boot, and there was an old air filter. Funny thing was though, it wasn't his. He had been using a K&N filter, and they popped a BMW one in the back, but still charged him for it... Dodgy bastards!

Funny you should say that because the last major service I had done at a BMW dealer on my E39, they replaced a "light control module" at $800. Since i'm in the Electronicis manufacturing game, I asked for the faulty one so I could pull it apart to see what true value it had but they could not find it. Hmmm...... makes you very suspicious. The total bill that day cost me about $1800 and that incident made me turn away from getting that car serviced at the dealer from that day forward.

I have no problem going to indipendant BMW specialists now, as long as they know their stuff, they're fine... They also charge a whole lot less then the dealers!

I'm surprised that the site in Chatswood (Pacific Highway opposite Albert Street) hasn't revealed its (presumably) BMW sign yet. Hopefully, with BMW Australia taking over the dealership in this part of town, the quality of service mechanics will be as good as at Rushcutters Bay. |

Well another update, I pick up my new baby in just over 2 weeks!
Dealing with Marcus from Bib Stilwell in Prahran has been outstanding, prompt replies to any emails and updates as to when my car will be ready! Great service and just so different from what I experienced from Doncaster BMW! |

There are a few who can do it, but I like BEMW (the do euro cars), I thought they were clean, and kept a good workshop (I seem to have trouble finding clean people do repair, install things on my car, theyalways seem to mess up the leather), and were very friendly, with good prices and quite knowledgeable I can't go there now though, cos the driveway would **** my car
I now go to JC Motorsport in Greenacre, he's very good I know there are alot of people towards the inner suburbs and beaches, just a matter of looking them up or asking around for their numbers...

Getting excited, but took my car down for a trade in yesterday and just got a call then with the trade-in price.
About $5k under what I was hoping for, waiting on another call back, hopefully with a better price Bad thing about purcahsing a car that takes 3-5 months to deliver is that you can't negotiate a change over price with a trade-in at the time of purchase. Picking up a new daily driver Subaru RX today, excited about that. Will be exicited when/if I get a call back from BMW with a better trade in price! It felt like he was feeling me out firstly, so hopefully the call back is more realistic! |

Went to Subaru today to pick up my daily driver, not a bad car for $25,000 the Impreza! They are going to give me a call tomorrow with a buy price for my GT Liberty as they think they can do a bit better than $22,500. Redbook lists my car for between $29-$32k and most sales both private and dealer are between 29-38k. My thoughts Trade in at $22,500 which while low I need to account for the following: Various scratches on the rear bumper $300 100,000km major service due $1800 Scratches on the front bumper $200 Cost of advertising $100 Cost of wasted time and annoying phone calls $500 This brings the price up to $25400 which is OK Need to sleep on it I think, as doing a private sale I may sell it for around $28,000 after repairs, paint fixes and service. |
