Brakes

Just bought a used 335i from a dealer for 20,500 with 53k miles. Landed up spending 25,000 after i got the 4 yr warranty/50k miles and taxes and what not so I think i got a fair deal. Any way I put 1200 miles on it in 3 weeks and the brake light goes on! So looks like I need brakes which is absolute BS. Now I still owe the guy $300 so looks like I'm gonna be doing some bargaining for some brakes otherwise he's not seeing the rest of his money. What are the typical prices for brakes and rotors. I want to go with the OEM but if that's not possible what others are reputable.

It is a used car. Checking the brake pad thickness needs nothing more than a flashlight. And brakes are a consumable, just like gas in the tank.

There is a reason that we used to have shop class. And not understanding mechanical issues is not a badge of societal rank, though many people in the United States seem to think so in this day and age.

If you have the 4 year/50K warranty, maintenace should be included. However I'm not sure as it probably CPO now. $400 sounds about right but as he mentioned, he installed it himself....so you have to add labor and at a dealer it is usually about $125/hour. Indy shops will charge anywhere from $65 up to $100 per hour. I would go aftermarket on at least the pads if your brakes aren't covered. OEM dust sucks....
