E91 320d M-tech story -> DIY everything, but properly :)
I've bought a E91 LCI a year ago. It was a stock M-tech 320d. It had 17" type 284 and a rear diffuser from a non-LCI.
I've started with replacing the front grill: Then I've done the cheapest mod ever: Almost perfect I've replaced stock yellow bulbs with 80W CREE LED for my AE to match that xenon light: Yeah, a future plan is to open those lights and paint them OSS style. I'll probably paint the interior to matte black. I just need to find a spare, damaged light as a test bunny, since as far as I know, LCI lights are a nightmare to open/close. Finally the day has arrived, when I got my HyperSilver VMR V710's: - front setup: V710 8.5x19 ET35 + GY Eagle F1 Asy2 225x35x19 - rear setup: V710 9.5x19 ET33 + GY Eagle F1 Asy2 255x30x19 I've searched for aftermarket rims and found V710's, which I liked quite a lot. After ordering them I've found out about this forum and realized that there is a thread just about V710 rims So much about having a unique rims After that, I've started to think, what to do with that pre-LCI diffuser. I've ordered a LCI version and decided to put a real Carbon Fiber on it. This is the final product before the last clear coating: My Boston terrier approves But it didn't went perfect. Because we've tried to fix some dents and bumps on the final layer with resin, that showed after the coating: Well, its pretty OK for our first try: After attaching the carbon fiber diffuser I've ordered front carbon fiber lips from the e-bay to match the rear diffuser (seen on pictures later on...) Then I've decided to remove that ugly oval exhaust tip. While doing that, I've decided to remove the last muffler too to gain some extra tractor sound. I was always against the exhaust modifications on a diesel cars, but this one doesn't sound as bad as I expected. Actually it sounds pretty cool. Yeah, I know, you 335i owners are probably laughing on the floor now A friend of mine made a new Y shapred tip from 2x 3inch inox: This is the final product: Before the Exhaust mod, I did the ECU mod, removed the DPF and blocked EGR. Car should perform around 210HP. I'm waiting for a dyno day at a local dyno garage to get some exact numbers... That's about it. Car is used as a daily (obviously) so, there will probably not be any significant dropping due to the not-perfectly-smooth road condition in my country. Audio upgrade will probably occur in the future (replace the subs under the seats, installing additional sub in the trunk, replacing door speakers...) Last weekend, me and my friend went on a epic roadtrip to one of our alpine passes to do some proper shots. The shots are mine. I'm still expecting the shots from my friend - I'll post them later... See, I've told you, it's gonna be boring Last edited by inti; 04-03-2018 at 04:20 PM.. |

Car looks great! i love that you tackled the rear diffuser yourself to add the carbon and you even cut your own roundel overlays. The V710s look right at home on your wagon. Have you thought about putting the bmw center caps on them with your carbon fiber overlays?

Those last three shots are amazing. You live in a pretty epic area. Very nice grocery getter you got there too.

Actually I kinda still prefer the VMR caps, so I'll just leave them on. But I already know, what I'll do, when I'll do it. If I reveal this now, it would not be interesting Quote:

I said boring, cause most threads here are related to 335*'s, so there shouldn't be much of an interest for readers, since I'm talking about a smelly slow diesel Tnx man |

For the first shots I've used Nikon D90 with Nikkor 18-105 default lens.
The second shots were made by a friend of mine. He used a Nikon D750 body, but I have no details about the lenses. His backpack was simply overloaded with them +fiddling each photo in Photoshop naturally |

Finally I went to a friend today, who owns a dyno and we finally did some runs.
Stock 320d: 350 Nm @ 1750-2500 rpm 177 PS @ 4000 rpm Mine: 470,1 Nm @ 2850 rpm 228,5 PS @ 4100 rpm I was expected somewhere around 450Nm and 210HP, so I was quite happy about the result |

What's new?
I've blacked-out the tail-lights. Did a quick photoshoot today: CREE LED reverse bulbs are waiting for the installation, there are also some preparations to do the trunk subwoofer. Beside that, nothing new at this point |

Lovely looking wagon with some cool mods. That photo coming through the leaves too, oooooffft.
Any vids on how your exhaust sounds with the last muffler deleted? I'm considering it for my 320d |
