Problem with MP3 Tracks

Does anyone have the problem where the song will cut off midway in the song or you select the track and it skips it (occasionally). It will play one time and not another. I made a brand new MP3 cd thinking I scratched it or played that one song one too many times, but it's getting quite annoying when I get all into a song and it cuts off and goes to the next.

Yes, I have had this problem on occasion. I don't know if it is due to the many bumps we have in the roads here, or if there is some other problem.

I recall someone mentioning that they burn thier mp3 disks at a lower speed than usual. I have burned all of mine at 48X (which was never a problem with regular music cd's).

This happens when my car is parked in my garage...so I doubt its any bumps...It really gets annoying after a while...I tried burning at lower speed..and also tried using someone elses method of burning cd's so that I get all the characters...

Without going into too much depth, it is most likely because the media you burned cannot be properly burned at the speed you burned it. Try buring at a lower speed.

I too have the exact same problem with my november build, w/ prof. nav. I can burn the cd, and some songs will play, and others will not. Then some will just play for a few seconds, others will play for a minute or so and then just skip to the next song; where that one will not work and so on. Then those that didn't work, on occasion will work. I tried buring another cd, and the songs that didn't work the first time, sometimes worked on the second cd, so I know that the song files are not corrupt. I only put about 70 songs on the cd, so I doubt that is the issue. Is there a software update for this problem, or could it be that I don't know what I'm doing when burning the cd. Using Nero and burning at 4X. It is really pissing me off. Any tips?

I doubt the media is a problem. I generally use Maxell, TDK, or Imation media rated to 52X, but my burner maxes out at 48x. I have burned hundreds of CD's with this media and with the same drive without any problems.

Granted, I just started playing MP3 disks in my car within the past month. Prior to that all the audio disks worked fine.

I have noticed that if I hit a bump with an audio disk playing, it will skip and start back at the same location, but with mp3 disks it will skip and then go to the next track. I haven't had it happen while stationary, though. I guess I shouldn't complain considering others here seem to have it worse than myself.
