Soundstream Stealth amp work for hifi??
I have narrowed an amp search down to a few and the Soundstream Stealth 6 channel, the STL6.620 is one of them. I think for how I want to use it, it has the perfect power distribution over the channels.
Does anyone know if this line of amps will work with the hifi systems output, through the Technic harness of course. EDIT: Soundstream got back to me and said the Stealth amps are not compatible with differential balanced inputs. Last edited by cdgatti; 02-08-2012 at 04:54 AM.. |

As much as I hate the older Soundstreams, the amp he is looking at is rated to have more power than a 600/6.
I was not aware that you were a vendor. |

fronts : 80W for SS, 100 W for JL rears: 55W for SS, 75W for JL (wired through my analog processor, see my 5.2 thread) underseats: 100W for SS, 75 for JL So it provide less power for the BSW's and more for the SSMB. It is small and should fit nicely like the JL, and is A/B so the SQ should be better. |

I believe ARC audio KS line can accept differential balanced inputs, is this correct?
If so can this Clarion XH line of amps also? Here is one that looks to be built the same as the KS300.4, it is the XH5410. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...on-XH5410.html EDIT: Heard back from Clarion, these XH series amps can accept balanced inputs. After more research - settling in on an XD400/4 to drive my fronts and rears and running the pre-outs to a soundsteam stealth 2 channel that will do 150wpc to the ssmb woofers.
Question about the XD amps - can the pre-outs run an amp that does not accept the balanced inputs? |

A balanced inputs amp works with both balanced and non-balanced signals. A non-balanced inputs amp works only with non-balanced signals. |

The next option would be any Audiocontrol device, but that would blow the budget in no time. |

On the JL website it says this about the pre-amp outputs:
Pass-Through Preamp Output Type: Buffered Seems like they would say differential or balanced it that is what they are. I think the answer you found is from where they said the pre-outs can be from channels 1&2 or the sum of all 4. Have an email into JL support will see what they get back with and post. |

Installed the xd400 and Soundstream
Well I ended up going with the JL M400/4 (marine version of the XD400/4) and a Soundstream Stealth STL2.560. The JL powers the fronts/center and rear channels while the 2 channel SS powers the underseats. With some rudimentary tuning it sounds pretty good, I'll have to spend some more time with it to make it great, but the power is definitely there. More power than the Alpine mrp-f300 that these amps replaced.
I also added the cd changer trim to conceal everything, and just for kicks added a 12v power source to the panel for running my tire air compressor on the side of the road. I had a question whether the JL pre-outs signal would be compatible with the non-balanced inputs to the SS amp. JL tech never got back to me, but it works just fine. Here are some pics: First off is the old system: |
