Brake Failure
So, a lot of things happening to my E90 335i for the past 2 months, fake Eisenmann exhaust from Eisenhaus (refer to "Eisenhaus is fake" thread in vendor section), tire puncture, tire pressure problems, now brakes.
Driving leisurely today and suddenly, the "BRAKE" light, "ABS" light and DSC/DTC sign (triangle with an exclamation mark and a circle) all came on. Car is still driving OK, and I've been very cautious since, definitely taking it back to get it checked tomorrow. Bimmers, not very reliable these days....

This happen to me last night!!! Was driving home and out of no where 3 lights came on, BRAKE/ABS and traction sign. I pull over and check for tire pressure and it seem fine. Restarted the car and same thing, light stay on. So I drop off the car over night. Today I got a call back form SA telling me they saw some fault in the speed sensor?? and need to replace, and I'm not able to it back till tomorrow...I was busy at work so i did not ask any question... Anyone have any idea what is speend senor?

I just heard back from dealership that they don't know what the problem is yet, and consulted with their technical representative (who's not on duty I guess) and waiting for his response. Wonder if I have the same problem as you.

well yeah, things happen to car, even to really good car brands i.e. BMW, Mercedes. I'm just hoping dealership fixed it as soon as possible.

I had that same problem, and mine was from the speed sensor wire. However, my speed sensor wire was accidentally damaged during a shock install, so thats why it went bad. I dont know how your speed senors could have gone bad, but its possible. Like I said, mine was physically damaged. Took maybe 10 minutes to change it

thanks for the tip. Funny that if you guys are right, whilst BMW of Nashville is still "figuring" out what is wrong and need to wait for "technical representative" to respond. Just show how much more reliable you guys are...

I just got my car back. According to my SA and the invoice, they replaced my faulty speed sensor and WHEEL BEARING. I was when they say rear wheel bearing was replaced. He say the tech did not see any damage to the wheel bearing but the new sensor did not detect it. Once they put in the new wheel bearing, sensor work...issue resolved.
I do not recall hitting anything hard that could cause damage to the wheel bearing... Anyways the car drive fine now...Good luck with your issue gundamfans, hope they figure out whats wrong with yours. |

thanks for the kind note. Unfortunately, BMW of Nashville is still keeping me in limbo, brought my car in on Monday morning at around 8:15am and till today Wednesday afternoon at 4pm, still no idea what the problem is and still waiting for the "technical representative to reply". I called the service guy twice a day, and still no answer....I am starting to get frustrated.....3 days and still no explanation (I understand that Monday is a public holiday, but even tue and wednesday no reply?)
EDIT: Latest update is that they need to do a software update and some steering angle stuff....won't get car back until earliest tomorrow afternoon/evening...

More update, BMW of Nashville is saying that the problem is very complicated and will take much longer. No ETA available even...very unhappy and disappointed.

Latest update again: Dealership replaced speed sensor but cannot fully correct the problem, they are still lost as to what is the true problem and waiting for technical rep to "E-mail" them.
Orb, I'll PM you...thanks.

Newest update: They ordered some kind of component from New Jersey (service guy didn't want to reveal it to me), and it'll come in on Monday and hopefully it'll be fixed by then. A week without my car, I'm totally stranded...in particular I live in Nashville.

newest update again:
tech is installing and reprogramming my car so if no complications, looking at Tuesday afternoon ETA. Without a car for more than a week....great....this is a good experience for me to learn to be patient....(deep down inside me I'm hugely frustrated and disappointed...but what can I do?) PS: If any BMW tech or anyone can chime in on this matter, I would appreciate greatly!

more updates:
Service guy called me and said results not satisfactory again. I pressed him for more details, but he's not giving me any. I still don't know exactly what the problem is, but apparently those 3 lights still show up. He seemed to have suggest it's a DSC problem that's causing the ABS and "Brake" light to go on... Very frustrated, more than 9 days without my car. Going to get a loaner right now from enterprise.

I had the same problem happen a week ago Friday (7800 miles on the car.) The car has been in the shop for five days and they can't figure out what's happening. They replaced a sensor and a wheel bearing as well as the control unit for ABS, DTC. They are now replacing another wheel bearing.
Everything lit up after I made a turn on a rainy day.
