IMO your starter is dying.

Manual shift or auto tranny? If manual let another person give the car a bit of a push in 2nd or 3rd gear when the "click" engages the starter to the flywheel, causing to turn the starter some degrees.
Be carefull not to hop against something. Push the clutch pedal when the starter kicks in.

Back in the days a gentle hammering on the starter housing helped but today starter motors usually are not reachable from the engine bay.

white blue could be right...

the solenoid normally sticks to your starter...however on the e90s if your up for it you can actually get a broom or long object and hammer it on your starter to help it start

NOTE: jump starting can lead to the mis alignment of the EWS and the DDE which will need to be re aligned by local specialist or yourself if you have coding equpment.

if it gets mis aligned..give me a shout. i am in the mids and can help you re align it with INPA.

BMW don't use inertia starters so I don't see how banging the starter motor will help. How do you know the battery is OK?

I had this problem at the start of the year. It was caused by oil residue from leaky swirl flaps running down the block into the starter and saturating the insides/burning out. Starters are quite cheap. You'll have a hard time replacing it on the driveway if you're a DIYer. The top two bolts are a nightmare to get undone.

changed mine on the drive, for the top bolt you need a 3 foot socket extension and slip it right up the side of the auto box.
