after quick search found this.

Yes I saw that, thanks , but they didn't ship to Romania. I will first fit the SWS's and seal them good , and I will make a try with them amp that I already have. If I will not be satisfied I will start to lock for another amp. I will write the result and maybe take some pictures.

Let us know how the SWS subs sound - will you be going with the 2 ohm version, then?

Also, I wanted to post that I had my install done last week by the dealer, and there was indeed several hours of coding involved (post-3/09 build). Final cost for just install was €189, I posted a full review in the 1Addicts audio section if anyone is interested (nothing really new to say, though).

No, I've already sent the 2 ohm version back and I'm waiting the 4 ohm version to be sent to me. I will write the review after installation.

The amp on the E92 (will clarify this time) goes in the boot. It should be on the left hand side at the back. In the photo the back left is filled with the dab radio (whitish unit) i think and therefore the alpine amp has been mounted further away from the seats.

Would I be right or wrong in thinking the layout may be the same?
Cheers for this. Not sure if it could be mounted in my E91 without sacrificing space - there's a similar recess in mine but it's mostly filled with a 12v tyre compressor and Tyre Weld (I have non RFTs). Also have a Hatchbag boot liner to can't really mount it in the boot (plus the dog would slobber on it!) above the floor "lid." - Might have to mull this one over! Cheers for the pic!

335d,

Some have mounted their amps near the left wheel arch behind the boot lining.

Still in Trouble with my Alpine install.

Continued to try to sort out the problems with my new Alpine set-up without success (see post 535). Had solid green light on amp for a few minutes then it reverted to flashing red with some sound through the drivers-side sub. Also got loud clicking sounds from the rear speakers even tho' the fader input was directed towards the front speakers. Because I was doing some travelling I decided to revert to the original wiring connections, without the Alpine amplifier, but using newly installed speakers - this worked fined and in fact sounded a step up from original set-up.

Could it be that I need the set re-coded as per the above posts even though it's a 2008 e92 or should I return the amp as faulty?

Sounds like you have proven that the speakers work in line. So yeah take it back to the dealer if they supplied it.

There is no way that the amp is shorting out somehow? crossed cabling over powering inputs?

With regards to the rear speakers, they should not be impacted by the install as they should remain powered by the head unit.

Got my alpine about 18 months back and now the right speaker sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't. Think its a loose wire as if i turn the car sharply/gets vibration etc then the right speaker comes back on.
Anyone know what the warranty with the alpine is? I got BMW to fit mine so may call the dealer but suspect they will say 12 month warranty.

I thought BMW had a 2 year warranty for accessory parts? Could be different outside of the US, though.

help would be appreciated
Hi all,
I have exactly the same problem as you two: gong and PDC sound is too low and mid-speakers are not OK. I tested them with a 400Hz tone and no sound was coming out of them. Rear speakers sound OK with the same tone.

The retrofit was done by the dealer but they told me they don't have a solution yet. This affects the E90 LCI, with new retrofit alpine 65410445684.

does any of you have any news about this?

My gong is low, which doesn't bother me at all. I don't have PDC, so can't comment on that. My midranges seem to work fine.

I have the new kit as well (installed in Spain, by the way).

I was well up for this in my E91 but sadly the amp takes up space I need for other bits and bobs (12v compressor, tyre weld, other bits) and I have a tailored Hatchbag so can't stick it anywhere other than the little recess under the boot floor cover.

Cheers for the suggestion mv52 - I might well check that out!

No, no idea. I have the printout of the "Final Report" from the dealership, but I don't see anything about software versions on it...

you can see your car's software version in the "secret menu":
BC hidden menu e90

anyway, you just have to press and hold the reset km button and insert the key. Then press the button again until menu 1.06

Software version is B3.41.81. Not sure what that means at all, lol.

sorry Bimmer, I just read in another thread that that's not the real soft version. It might be the dash version. Anyway, mine's got the same code.

Hi Paba, only just joined and seen your post, are you still having trouble?
I have just completed the upgrade myself and had exactly the same problem, you need to re check your wiring.......
Recheck your speaker wires as I think you may have connected up the wrong ones, I used a square nine volt battery to make sure the wires were the speaker wires then continually double checked before making the connections.

hope this helps,

Matthew
