If you guys read my other thread about how the tire pressure keeps dropping every few days. Well I took it to the dealer and they resetted it and it felt fine for like a day. I just hate how the car rides now- harsh, handles like crap, feels like goddamn bump on the road. It could also be the runflats but they felt fine before (and I only have about 8000 miles on the tires).

Anyhow, I'm getting pretty tired of having to go to the gas station and pump it up every week or two. So I want to invest in a tire pressure gauge/air pump- something that can accurately check the tire pressure and allows me to pump air into them. Any recommendation is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

^ you might have to. Check to see if there's a nail in one of your tires. If there isnt one, just inflate the tires and then reset the TPMS. The thing with mine is that there's no warning message but I can feel it when it's low (just like anyone here can tell that their car isnt riding or handle the same).

does this happen because of the RFTs? i am having this problem as well, but since i am getting new tires, i hope i wont have to deal with this in the future

There are gauge/pump combos, such as the Black & Decker ASI300. I haven't used these but I suspect the built-in gauges aren't accurate enough and you still need to check the pressure with the decent gauge.

For an air compressor, I just bought a Thomas T-30HP ($450 from amazon). This is probably overkill if you just want to fill your tires, but I also use a compressor for cleaning, air tools, painting (thus oil-free), etc. Thomas compressors are the cadillacs...err BMWs...of compressors.

For a gauge, I love the kind that let you overfill the tire and then have a pressure relief valve to let out air until you get the exact pressure. I just bought a Moroso 89560 ($45 amazon). Expensive? Hell yes, but so are BMWs. I'm tired of crappy tire gauges. This gauge is simply awesome.

Sorry this is about the pressure dropping rather than the gauge... After reading about the TPMS sensors, I think it's possible that a loose adapter can cause leaks. Did you try tightening them? It would be a big pain because you'll need to unmount the tires, tighten, then remount and balance again. Just a thought...

Get some Windex or soapy solution and spray it around the valve stem. If you have a leak in that area it should bubble. You can also check the perimeter of the tire/wheel the same way. A visual inspection of the wouldn't hurt either.

I once had a defective casting in a wheel. It took forever to find that one.

Yeah I might just have to do so. I took it to the dealer and told them about a possible leak and they said "the tpms system is very sensitive. If it drops even just a few psi it will let you know." I was like "well obviously not that sensitive since the rear has dropped 2-3 psi."

These wheels & tires are a pain in my ass.

$45 for a gauge is not bad- as long as it's accurate. I used to have an air compressor from Costco (still do actually). It was something like $100-200. We used it for a while and the needle broke off and it's just been sitting for a while now. lol

Any cheaper air compressor that you guys can recommend? I mean $450 is quite expensive for a compressor.

Does the one in the BMW mobility kit work? I think it's got the compressor, and the whole kit costs $84 from Tischer...

Awesome!! I just looked it up and it comes with tire sealant, compressor with a built in gauge and some gloves (i think). It says that the gauge is pretty darn precise which is great. I'm going to order it. Thank you so much bro!

i have a question if any of you guys could give me an answer please. a couple days ago i have this small nail on my RFT on the rear and the then TPMS pop out on the cluster and i bought it back to BMW and they say it was damage or worned... so they offered me to replace the tire so it'll be fix.

i was wondering if i could just plug that nail out and repair it with the tire repair tool (the plastic stringy thing) and fill up the tire to the original pressure will the TPMS message still be on the cluster? thanks for those who could help me out with this..

I park my car in my garage everynight, but every once in a while for whatever reason I might leave it outside overnight, and every single time I've done this, the next day the tire pressure monitor "!" is on. Is it because of the cold weather?

If you've driven on the tire, it's not recommended that you repair it. I'm not sure what you mean by the TPMS cluster though.

Cold weather will cause your pressure to drop but not to the extent that the error message will turn on (at least I dont think it could). I've been having similar problems still. I would fill it up with air one day and it will drive just fine for a day or two. After that the pressure will drop like crazy.

I've taken it to the dealer and they reset the sensors as well as pumped air into the tires. Again it was okay for a day or two and the same thing happened. The service guy told me, and I quote, "the new TPMS system is very sensitive. If your tire pressure drops even a few PSI, it will notify you." Well, after a week or two of driving a car that handles like shit, I took it a gas station and filled it up with air again. All tires were about 6 PSI lower than the recommended ones. So I filled them up and it was okay for a day and the same shit happened.

It can't be the tires because I've only got less than 9000 miles on them and there's plenty of tread left. Seriously the car drives like shit- so bumpy and handles like crap. I was thinking it could be alignment but that's more about steering input than how the car rides.

I use the M-mobility kit to check and put air in the tires. It works perfectly.

I just got a kit as well but it doesnt look anything like what Tischer has on their site. In mine, the air compressor is built into the case.

maybe its the conti-kit that tire rack sells. I think its made by continental tire. Either way that should be just fine.

Funny, the conti kit is exactly the same as my dunlop kit that i just bought from a local car parts store except for it only cost me $40 as opposed to the $79 they are asking....They must use the same manufacturer. Great alternative to a spare nontheless.
