Gear-Shift Knob Recall?

I've just had BMW ring me up to ask me to bring the car in to have the gear shift knob on my E92 replaced as part of a maintenance update. Does anyone know what this is all about?

Mark.

Perhaps post this on the main general forum - see if the US and Europe has had the same recall? I got my car from DL in Bristol and not had a recall on my manual E90... (yet)!

dealer told me about it today. The metal finish wears off prematurely. Thats all. I got a new knob commin free of charge, but I picked up my ///M knob today, so it doesnt really affect me.
