Recommended Panel Beater Sydney
Hi All
Need something painted without going through the insurance. Can anyone recommend a good panel beater in Sydney south? We used to take our BMWs to O'Brien at Caringbah, excellent quality and service but they are a bit pricey. Cheers |

How south? Panel One is recommended (haven't used them) but I went in a couple of times and everything looked spotless and tidy with only BMWs in sight! I just dropped my car off at NCC this morning, but that's definitely not south.

that's Panel One at Alexandria right? they probably jack up their price like O'Brien given that they are the BMW approved repairer.
I've been trying to ring that Underwood place at Botany, couldn't get through them. Was thinking to go ESR at Earlwood, they've recently moved next to Canterybury BMW, got quoted a $1k - i was like wtf! What is NCC? |

NCC is Northshore Collision Centre.... obviously in the north and hence.. not south (duh.)
NCC and Panel One are similar both look immaculate and are the kind of places that people would want to take their BMW. Underwood however appears nothing like these two - no fancy viewing area or reception etc.. Just a decent workshop and in good fashion if you offer cash you can bargain well. I know for a fact that they do repairs for BMW Sydney so personally I had no problems going with them. Others however would probably turn away at the sight of it in comparison to other bodyshops. Shame you can't get onto them... Maybe they were off for public holiday? If you really want to contact someone I have a number for one of the guys - maybe you can shoot him a text or call or something. Let me know if you want the number. Sorry I also didn't see you said 'without' insurance - I thought you meant with - in which case you would probably go one of the bigger names. For my non-insurance stuff I went Underwood. edit - where did you have your lip put on? |

Panel one is very good, I've used them for both insurance work and cash jobs. Speak to Kelvin, he's one of the owners. Will do deals for cash but he's HK Chinese so best to haggle
As an alternative maybe give Tate from Pro Scratch Paint & Panel a call on 0420 867 644. He's a mobile repairer and did a splendid job on my door ding last week. Was also 50% less than Kelvin's "I'll be eating boiled rice all week" special cash price for the same repair and the quality of his work would be 90% as good as what I'd have expected from Panel One.

thanks guys. Will ask Kelvin@Panel One for a cash price...
i've recently bought an aero kit for my E70 X5, there are small 6 pieces and they go underneath the front and rear bumper. |

No doubt panel one is the best. Quality finishing.
I tried this repairer before: Scientific Motor Body Works 445-483 Wattle Street Broadway NSW 2007 Well, its cheaper than Panel One. but you get what you paid for. I went there to fix front bumper ( i dont mind to fix bumper at good price ). IF fixing something more important, i will certainly go for Panel One. cheers |

I was disappointed with Scientific although several others have been 100% happy.
Small gouge in the bumper, insurance (not at fault) claim. Car was taken in utterly immaculate, this was commented on, and I was assured it would be a great job. Honestly, it was dreadful - uneven, overspray. Had it done again - rather better but still only a 6 or 7/10. Paint is too thick and chips much too easily. No offer of a loan car for the second week either. I was over it by then but really wish I'd made them do it a third time when I look at it now.

Never buy an ex Demo M3 .... bound to have been damaged at some stage by over enthusiastic sales reps.
