SOS malfunction/No radio sound
Hey everyone I am hoping you can help us. I have done a ton of research and think I know what the problem is but need someone to help so i don't have to go to the dealer. We picked my son's car(07 e92 no navi) up last night after having deer accident damage fixed(got some cool stuff added too which is awesome) but when he got in the SOS malfunction light popped on and the radio volume doesn't work. Radio is on and will scan stations but no sound or volume bars when you turn the knob. Also the bluetooth connection is not working. While the car was there apparently the battery died so they charged it up and I am assuming when this happened it screwed the TCU up. From what i've found i need someone to code out the SOS feature because that's effing up the system and stopping the volume and BT from working. We are in Sykesville and can drive a bit if needed but I really want to get this sorted out for him.....HELP!!

This problem sounds like a loose or broken connection in the most fiber optic loop. You should be able to disconnect the fiber wire and look for the transmission of light through it. I coded my Sos out for an aftermarket radio install. I can't really remember all the steps with the software. I would have to research the whole thing again. Coding software is very unfriendly.

I am going to look at that this weekend and hopefully find it but the more i keep reading i keep coming back to the TCU needing to be updated without the SOS. Any local coders in the area that can help if it's not the fiber optic cable?

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update. Turns out after bringing the car to RMW in Finksburg(they are great by the way and I'd highly recommend them) that it wasn't a coding issue. It turned out to be the amp cooked itself somehow. It was throwing me because the door chimes worked even with the amp out of the car! Found an amp from a local seller on eBay and picked it up. Plugged it in right there and voila...radio and bluetooth back and the SOS symbol gone. No coding was needed for the amp either which was nice!
