I live in fear of getting something really nice that I'll be wanting for the next x years of my lease

Normally I only want an 'a to b' courtesy car so am quite content with whatever they give me.
Similar here, arrange a demo car 'up front' at services, get a chance to try a few latest models. My dealer knows I'll be serious with them, when buying next.

For warranty work on my 330d, I had a brand new LCI E61 535d touring M-sport, when first launched. Had it for a week, while my car was being sorted.

I only arrange a loan car when I really need one, often wait for servicing. One time needed to go across to Edinburgh while the 540i was in for warranty work, and opted for a 116i loan car for the afternoon.

A lot depends on your relationship with the garage, IMO.

I agree with Pete in terms of the relationship you have with your dealer.

My car has had quite alot of niggly warranty work done, and therefore been back multiple times.

At first i got a horrible 320d in gold (i know!) but since then i've had an F10 525d MSport, an F30 320d MSport and a brand new 1 series 120d MSport that only had 32 miles on the clock!

Reason being they have had my car for long periods of time and could tell i wasn't very happy with the options i was given.

There standard cars are all older 1-series cars, but due to knowing the guys there quite well now, they always put me in a decent car now to keep me happy - which it does! Maybe i'm easily pleased? lol

You are in Hertfordshire? That's near Essex, innit?

I worked in a BMW Franchised Dealer for a while,
Service fleet mainly consisted of 6x 1 series (mostly 118's), 1 E91, 1 F10 and 2 MINI's (Countryman was popular as it was new model)

My brother bought his car in for warranty work and I got him the 123d M Sport Auto as his loan car which ended up being nearly 3 weeks!

Only thing I'll ask for when my car goes in for service/warranty work etc is that it must be a diesel as my local BMW dealer is about an hour from where I work.
