For the people who already have it installed, what did you do with the screws that are circled red Also did you guys install the brace, because I havn't seen any pictures with the brace installed. Even though the intake feels secure and tight (because it was forced in), I'm scared that if I hit a big pot hole the whole thing is going to get jarred loose because there isn't any screws screwed into the front air duct and if I decide to take out the brace, the only thing that's holding it is the hose clamp and the MAF sensor. |

I did not do anything with the screwsI left them like that I force the intake in I put the big brace and yes there is part that is screw in the front air duct, is like a little metal brace you put that on the left side and use a screw.
I was goign to post DIY but I can't find my camera

Ok, I re-installed the intake. It went a lot smoother this time and the pieces seemed to fit a lot better.

Rich I have a question.
I just installed the intake. It was very easy, took less than 30min. Though I have one question. They "first piece", where the air first comes in through(not the big one with filter in it), doesn't hold on to anything? no bracket? no screws to keep it intact with something? Except for that one bracket, there is really nothing this intake system is holding on to. I mean I installed it pretty tight, and Im sure it won't pop out or anything, but just curious if I missed a step. Let me know ASAP. Im writing up a DIY right now and don't want to get it wrong. thanks!

Lux.sean,
there is a small "L" bracket that mounts to the left side of the intake duct, and screws in through one of the areas where the 2 torx screws were during uninstall. you use the screw that requires the small hex key. edit: these should help: |

I posted up the DIY instruction.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30688 Quick Simota Intake Impression: This intake is relatively quiet for my taste. You can definitely notice that its there, but if you are coming from a japanese tuning background, expect it to be pretty quiet. Im used to all sorts of VVTi, VTEC, etc sounds, so unless you've been through what I've been through, this intake will sound great for ya. Humming sound absoutely turns me on when you give it about 70% throttle @ 2500~4000rpm. It sounds like V10 ferrari idling. Sound kind of dies out @ higher RPMs, and there is no difference in sound from 800~2500rpm. Overall satisfaction, 7/10 just because I usually enjoy terribly loud intake sound. Otherwise, just by judging by its looks and stealthy but more aggressive sound than stock(if thats what you are looking for), I would give it 9.5/10. I really think many BMW owners will enjoy this intake. Thank you so much rich.

I just finished installing my intake. Took me about 25 min. Easy no forcing but I had to bend the bracket a little in order to fit better. Sounds nice and acceleration feels snappier. I'm happy and it looks bad ass!

just installed my intake as well, took about 30 min and relatively no problems. As for as sound, not too loud and def not quiet, its perfect for a bmw. And to top it off, it just looks cool

Yes, i got the same muffler as you just this week on monday. Although im buying the eisenmann SR pipes hopefully on monday and am going to wait for those so i can install everything together. However i cannot wait to hear it, the intake alone made the car/exhaust sound better, i can only imagine with a muffler, let alone a full catback.
