I dropped my old iphone 4 down the pan. I nearly did the same with my 5 but my saving grace was that i still had my headphones attached so it just dangled over the pan.

How old is the phone?

Take it back to Apple and explain what happened.

They are likely to offer you a replacement refurbished phone for cheap. Think it is £130 from memory.

You can get an adapter to put the micro sim into so it fits the normal sim card slot.

I used to fix these as a hobby and sell them on. If you didnt try to turn it on when you retrieved it, you can open up the back, take the battery out and dry it on a cloth over a warm radiator. After a day or so, take a dry tooth brush and scrub the board lightly, taking way and dried in residue and hoover it off the board. Then try switching it back on. Should work. I even done this for painter and decorator who dropped it in paint.

You can also buy packs of ebay that pretty much evaporate the water out of the phone. Always worth a try.

My wife dropped hers down the toilet, AND, the same phone in the mop bucket [ Good girl, I know], and on both occasions it came back to life after 2-3 days of heat ( on radiator) and the rice treatment. Lucky perhaps, but its still doing fine.

Great idea!

Insured so went into O2 shop today who contacted insurers. They are sending a courier to pick it up, and in the meantime given me a SIM card adapter so I can use my old Sony phone. Better than nothing I suppose, until new phone delivered.
