EGR Block-Off Install
OK guys starting a fresh thread specific to installing the EGR block off in our cars. As has been proven in many other discussions this mod is a must to prevent carbon build-up from ruining our engines and/or prevent the risk of cracking the EGR cooler causing serious damage. Of course this is a mod for off-road, race only vehicles
A few guys have the kit and are installing it asap, then posting instuctions, pics, etc. I believe 2Deer already has his in and some of you other guys have even made your own. There is a block-off plate for the exhaust manifold side and a thin disc for the EGR valve/intake side. This is what the exhaust side looks like: Last edited by iaknown; 04-29-2014 at 12:07 PM.. |

Coding is up to you and what tuner you choose. A couple guys are looking into options for that.

I just picked up mine from the mailbox in the states and will be doing the install after the weekend. Have a long trip ahead and want to make sure I do not screw anything up and have a car for that. The piece looks great, btw.

Since the EGR reduces power and efficiency, have any of you that blocked it off noticed power gain or increase to mpg's? (I read that the EGR can can sap around 3%)
I live in MI (no emissions testing!) so I might be doing this soon, but would love to see a diy outline from one of the early adopters! Loving the car- bought it about a month ago and with a heavyish foot still avg 32.6 mpg (my driving is about 60% hwy)--What a car!! |

I can't quantitatively say I have seen an increase in mpg with the EGR block.
If anything perhaps 1 to 1.5mpg improvement. But that is so small of a change it is hard to definitively attribute it to the EGR mod. Other factors could be the warmer Spring weather, fuel suppliers no longer using winter diesel, etc. See my stamp below for my fuelly average so far. |
