^just to point out what i mean, a gt30 will make 450whp or so at 5500 rpms, while a gt40 will be in the 600 whp range at the same rpm level. questions?

False statement. You are confusing volumetric flow rate with mass flow rate. At the same volumetric flow rate, 12psi, the mass flow rate of the larger turbo will be MUCH higher.

Mass flow rate is the measure of how many oxygen molecules can be shoved into the combustion chamber per unit time. Volumetric flow rate is just the measurement of the 'size of the container', or, well, volume per minute.

Therefore, the more 02 per unit time, the more mechanical energy per unit time.

Volumetric flow at a certain PSI holding constant temperature gives you mass flow rate.

Volumetric flow is L/s, pressure of air at a certain temp gives you density, Volumetric flow x density = mass flow. Correct?

Seems to me that you guys are arguing 2 different things. And from the couple of posts I've read, are both making valid points. The problem is trying to correlate power to a single event. Power is over time, hence why CFM affects power. The torque created from a single combustion is what ExpTaste is arguing. For a single combustion event, the more air forced into the cylinder, the more fuel that can be added and the more forcefull the explosion. The cylinder has a fixed volume, so given enough time to completely fill up, it fills with a constant number of air molecules directly related to the air pressure/temperature and not CFM flow because he is assuming it fills completely no matter what. This is what ExpTaste is saying. Although not wrong, it is an extreme over simplification of an engine and that's why in the real world doesn't seem to hold up. He is assuming that at any CFM flow there is enough time to fill up the cylinder with max air molecules and not taking into account other factors involved in the complete system.

Your first sentence is correct, but it does not encompass all of what changes the RPM or power. It will gain power because its flowing more air that is also efficient. By no accident you can tune for these findings in efficiency and find more power along with the fact there is simply more oxygen put into the engine. The RPM powerband is changed because of spool time and the turbo is more efficient at a different speed.

OF course its not an option for everybody... not everyone wants to drop $6K+ the cost of other necessary modifications.

Boost is not deterring people. ITs simply a matter of cost, goals, and wants.

I have no idea if this matters but supras running the PT 6265 are boosting roughly 550whp/500wtq at 24psi on pump +meth....Different supra put down 640whp/580wtq on 110 octane at 25psi...I know the engines are different but we can see that these do have the ability to flow...
