KIBMW

I am looking to outfit a 2011 E90 with auto start (and perhaps a two way alarm) and from searching on the forum came across references for the KIBMW + Viper combo. My car has a factory alarm installed, so I am interested on a few of things:
1. How will it effect the currently installed factory system
2. What is exactly a KIBMW (wasn't really much description on their site)
3. How hard is this to install myself (I am fairly confident and do have basic knowledge of wiring/soldering/installations)
Thank you!

1. wait for VP Electricity for a complete response to this.
2. KIBMW is the BMW immobilizer interface that connects to the ignition barrel. this interfaces the key/remote start.
3. i would have a professional do it, and i have extensive electrical skills.

i believe with or without comfort access, you have to lose a key.

ps...this is not Don, this is eric (mathematics). forgot to log out.

It's actually fairly easy to install it's just power, ground, brake wires, and tap into the can wires. Here's a link to the install manual http://www.xpresskit.com/DocumentDownload.aspx?documentid=6415&productid=17 5&firmwareid=1634

Youll also need the dlpk and you will lose a key.

Could I just order an additional key from the dealer? Or does it have to be a factory one?

PS. Thank you for the link to the manual!

You can order a key from the dealer, or if you have a valet key you could use that.

In a similar situation right now with a need for a system for my 335i without alarm/or comfort access...

Hoping VP electricity replies and gives some insight here.

Also, I'm not liking the idea of giving up an extra key since I've got a CPO that only came with 2 altogether... whats the cheapest way to obtain another key for just the use of this and what can I expect to spend? Any online options and cheap way to program for this thing's needs?
