My own name on numberplate
Goodday everyone,
Just wondering if there is a stigma towards personalise plates which have the drivers name on it? I'm lucky enough to find my 6 digit full name online for £200. An 'A' is used to represent a 'H', otherwise perfect. But I cant help but feel that it comes into the same category as LED washer lights (wanker lights) and M3 badges on non M3's. What say you guys? |

unless your name is Psuml on your birth certificate I dont understand.
Yours I like. Short so it looks good and obviously has some personal meaning to the owner. But say the name Harry on a number plate for instance....... I'm not too sure |

Personally I don't think it is in the same league as led washers! I have my name on a plate so i might be biased but I love my plate even if though its not a short one, its just spaced wrongly and you can tell its personalised!

lol, That came out well for you then. Might have to see if that layout can work for me.
Maybe its just me then. Cause if I see HARRY I just think 'thats harrys car then'. If I see a car related name like 'FASTM3' I dont think much of it. But something not so obvious like 'JW 61L' just looks better IMO. |

I have personal plates on all my cars - only bad points:
1. Bit of slagging (mainly from Scooby drivers) 2. I change the cars a lot - over here (NI) it costs £80 to transfer ... I've done it 12 times now on my plate, and 9 times for my wifes |

I'll put more thought into it. Probably drive around London tonight and see what all the Lambos and Ferrari's have |

I have private plates on my car and I also think its just a nice addition (the plate is in keeping with my name and I will keep and transfer them in the future)
At the end of the day its your likes you need to satisfy, no one else. And i don't think they fall into the M badge category..... unless your having them done in italics! |

Go for it!
But the novelty will wear off the third or fourth time you've been stopped for misrepresenting the plate!! This is from experience - I ended up spacing the plate legally and then selling it with the car (it was a £250 one too, and I'd had it for quite a while on a number of cars). Of course I have replaced it with another personal plate, only slightly mis-spaced and it's ordinary enough to be classed as "normal" but it means something to me personally. Only the real "anoraks" will notice an LCi car on a 55 plate Mike |

no italics but I would have liked the old black base, white digits design. |

I've had private plates before, always bought cheap ones and couldn't be bothered to transfer them to new cars.
Just bought one for my BMW recently and it looks much better on the car than the original 57 plate. Single letter, single number, three letters is what I have. It has meaning to me and it was another super cheapy. For the piddly £245 it cost I can't really complain! I don't see it in the same category as cheap tatty upgrades.
