I'm a PC guy normally. I'm starting to lean over to the MAC side though. My Iphone and Ipad are giving me the hard sell.

APPLE > PC

for people who want the pure basics and simplicity right out the box.

you can get a pc that way faster and better everything for the price, but when it comes down to it, mac is much more user friendly.

I have the following
- mac mini
- power mac
- dell dual quad core zeon processors running Win 7

I do heavy graphic design and I use the PC 99% of the time. Sounds crazy, but the Dell is a beast compared to the 4500 mac. The Mac has some good things, especially for those who are not technical. I only keep the mac around in case I run into someone who only has Mac files which has become rare nowadays.
Of course apple mobile products are fun, nice solid OSes

You're gonna be pissed the first time your Mac has to restart because of an update.

Samsung Series 9 = Macbook Air (FYI)

Macs since the mid-eighties. I use a Windows XP workstation for video editing and compositing, and I find it very "un-BMW-like" compared to Mac OS.

Considering BMW was the first automaker to offer iPod connectivity from the factory with their cars, I guess it makes sense so many people here prefer them.

I own both. I have a few PCs, a few Linux servers, a few Sun servers, a Mac Cube, a Mac Air, iPhone, iPad, etc...

I'd consider myself more of a PC user, though. While I actually prefer my phone to be stuck in Apple's little eco-system, I find their computers to be annoyingly restrictive.

I mainly use my Mac for iPhone/iPad development and also installed Windows 7 on it for the rest of the time.

Got my first computer in college (Apple CI), finished with a degree Graphic Design, ran a record company and recording studio for 5 years, and now am a Creative Director. Macs are all I know in my art and music world. Registered with Apple I have; 25 computers, 3 iPods, 5 iPhones, and 1 iPad.

Macs can run Windows so... not much of a debate

Apple's prices on build-to-order upgrades are ridiculous, but the prices on the base systems are comparable (in some cases cheaper) than comparably-equipped systems from other vendors.

First of all, the iMac has no real competitors. HP and Dell have some "all in ones" that are woefully underpowered, yet still expensive. There's no all-in-one system that even comes remotely close to the iMac, especially the 27" inch version.

Laptops, you might get deceived into thinking something else has the same "specs" in you only compare CPU, hard drive, and memory. You might not be factoring in things such as IPS glass-panel displays, optical digital audio in/out, and other such features that are only found on high-end notebooks from other vendors, ones that wind up being as expensive as Apple.

I find this statement amusing, because it's mostly true. I've been mainly a PC guy, and didn't like OSX at all when I used it a couple of weeks ago at a client's office. I know win7 like the back of my hand and have never had any issues with stability or slow downs.

But then again, I know not to click on shady internet ads and stuff like that. My brother is completely computer illiterate, so when he was looking for a new (or slightly used) PC upgrade earlier this year, I told him to get a mac.

I think it mostly comes down to what you are used to. I'm used to, and am very proficient in windows, so that's what I prefer. Now that apple has switched to PC hardware (intel processors, etc) it gives people more options. I'd like to get a MBA and ditch OSX and run W7 on it natively (if that's possible), but the pricetag is a bit hard to swallow. Which brings up another point - Apple does not make cheap PCs and Laptops like HP, Dell, etc.. Their hardware is always top notch, but it comes with a price.

As well as the type of processor and memory. They are not all created the same. Plus the build quality is not even comparable. I have my HP next to my Macbook and my iMac right now and they are not in the same league. Sony is the only one that comes close in that department, although some of the new Samsungs are nice.

Apple is still more expensive, but its not anywhere near double.
