As far as I know it won't be many as the e90 doesn't suffer like the e46 did. Someone might correct me though... I've not seen any swirl flap failures since coming on here.

i tried to remove them from my 2005 e91 320d, and fit the blanking plates it was getting nr 100k so i was thinking better safe than sorry but struggled to remove the manifold, and decided to leave it for another day when i had more time not to be though due to a crash regards Katie. |

Have a search. It's not generally accepted to affect e9x at all.
Be aware those that sell swirl flap solutions may say differently for their own reasons.

Thanks for all your input peeps. I have been quoted £192 for the work to be done and the Indy I spoke to said they'd recommend it, but certainly weren't pushy about having it done.

So how did the flaps look. Did they look dodgy at all. How many miles had they done.

subscribed. I read loads on this before buying my E91 and was determined to have it done. But to be honest, like Mart1000 since being on this forum i've hardly heard anyone mention it. are the 330d 's likely to have them too? (E91). |

My car has done 58k, so I think just to be on the safe side I will get at the manifold and have a look for any wear, if not, I'll probably leave it, as has been said earlier in the thread, I haven't really seen anything about the E90 having a problem.

I haven't seen a single piece of evidence that proves there's anything wrong with the swirl flaps on the e90. I have seen a few e90's make high mileage without problems.

The swirl flaps on an e46 series had a 6mm pin fixing. These tended to break. Newer cars like E90 i think have 8mm fixings, and I haven't heard of a single issue on these later engines.

I seriously can't understand why people keep asking about swirl flaps on e90's! This was a problem on e46's and for some reason people associate this with e90's also.....why?
Look at the evidence! There isn't any issues with swirl flap failure on e90's. Google it. |
