BMW Ceramic CIC Controller from F-series - can it work with E9x CIC?

Hi all,

I have had conflicting reports about this idea.

I really like the look of the F series Ceramic controllers - found on high end 5er's and 6er's etc. The early cars obviously had CIC before NBT took over.

However, I am not sure if the early version F series CIC controller is identical in function / design to the E series CIC controller.

My motivation is two fold:

1) Ceramic CIC controller looks better (sad I know, but it just does!)
2) The F series CIC controller has Media instead of CD button, which is just more modern and in touch with my retrofitted combox and the functions that gives.

Some people will just say, fit a NBT and get the touch controller, but I would only retrofit NBT Evo with ID6, and I have been told from several sources that a NBT Evo retrofit will not work with my Individual Audio as it will cause an echo during handsfree phone calls!

Have you searched for the part number into an E90. That might home in on the info?

If the plugs are the same that would be a good start, but it's probably a case of suck it and see, maybe find someone selling one that would let you plug it in?

For EVO in e9x with amplifier on MOST, you should swap for HK or B&O from F series.

They are around £300!

They will be identical to a regular F series CIC controller, so I guess the question is has anyone used a F series CIC controller on a E series car?

it will not work, but you can try to transfer it's exterior to e-series controller
also there is controller with media button for e-series, it was installed on the late e70, e71, e89 and e84

I have been told that the issue relates to NBT EVO & the Individual Audio Amp.

Alegedly it will mean that an echo will be present on phone calls!

Is this not the case?

Shame - it would look so good compared to my current one!

Also a shame that NBT EVO won't work with Individual Audio!
