I bought my 335is for $20k under the New List price, one year old with 15k miles. Looks, smells and drives like new....
If the damage to the car would affect it in any way (performance, long term reliability), the cost to fix it would most likely be in thousands, and rarely anyone would pay that out of pocket to "keep it accident free" and increase the resale by $2k.

The OP is a bumper scratch...

However, I disagree with the $600 estimate. I just replaced the front bumper and repainted an inch scratch on my hood and replaced scratched right headlight -- $2800.

GL to the OP.

I wonder sometimes if because we care about our cars more than the avg. person, do we actually end up sustaining damage as a result? What I mean is so someone swerves without looking. If it were sports, we'd stand our ground, so why not do it with a car? Why should the BMW lose control and hit anything, when in reality, it has superior reflexes? Drive defensively and allow the person who is not looking to sustain equal or greater damage, instead of driving off unscathed. my .02

Big difference between truck and bus drivers. Truck rodeos award Harleys as grand prizes in skill tests. If they were not allowed to drive, there'd be no BMWs at the dealerships.

It will not show anywhere if you buy it at the dealership.
Even if you fix it there out of pocket.

It is all about $$$ -- if you use the insurance, it will show.
However, who cares! Take the picture as a proof that the accident was a joke...

I don't get how winning a Harley can affect BMW sales...

Bottom line is, truck and bus drivers care nothing for the road and their surroundings. No matter what, they have the upper hand. When an accident happens, not only does the smaller car receive more damage and injuries, the trucks and busses always have the upper hand when dealing with insurance companies.

I have seen too many examples of busses taking up 2 lanes, forcing cars into walls. I dont care if truck drivers win skill competitions or not, the competition most likely comprises of trucks driving over curbs so they can turn at the next left without waiting in line like the rest do. Probably another aspect of the skill is to speed and cutoff cars without signalling. I am not only talking about 18-wheelers but also pickup drivers. Don't want to stereotype but this is what I have experienced and have way too many videos to back up my arguments.

This can't be a serious post. There's an entire transportation industry out there in the real world. Truck drivers care nothing for the road? They are filmed, tracked by satellite, as are their vehicles and cargo. How do you think your BMW got from the port to the dealership? By some metrosexual guy wearing white gloves?

Sorry to hear about your accident. Glad you're ok.

Hate to be a Debbie downer, but your compression material under the bumper skin should be replaced as well. Based on how she hit you on the corner of the car and the lack of area over which the force of impact could have been distributed, you may even find some minor bends in the frame under the bumper itself.

Could you just replace the skin and forget about it? Maybe.
Is it completely irresponsible and, at the very least, unethical? Yup.

If you DIY, replace everything that needs to be replaced to ensure that the right impact protection is there in case it is ever needed (by you or the car's next owner)...or you can do it the easy way and go through insurance.

Quick question guys,

Would i need to find a rear bumper for specifically a 335I since the exhausts are placed on opposite ends rather then how the 328 exhaust is on only the left side

It depends what type of bumper you get. If you get an M-Tech bumper, you can always swap the diffuser for the dual cutout one you need.

I'm assuming the diffuser is the bottom part of the bumper where the exhaust tips come out from?

So I need to buy 2 things, the bumper and a diffuser?

I'm not saying that trucks are not essential to society. I am just saying that, based on my experiences, their tendency to road rage as opposed to other drivers is a lot higher. For what reason? I don't know.

How expensive is this compression material exactly? And could I get a normal bodyshop to complete this work for me without it ending up being shown up on my car fax report.
