Morel Hybrid 402's and SWS-8's installed, questions
Hey all, I got my morel 402's and SWS-8's (4ohms) installed with my xd700/5 amp. I was wondering what most people set the crossovers to and with what slope with this kind of setup, any suggestions?
Also, I want to make sure my under seats are wired correctly, what can I do do confirm they are correct? I think he said they are wired in parallel, but I want to make sure after hearing so many people on the forum act skeptical about going to random installers Thanks for the input and all the help previously! |

Well put on some heavey bass and fade to one side.
Well put on some heavy bass and fade to one side, then the other.
If they are wired in series there will be no shift in the bass from one side to the other if they are wired on the subwoofer(actually on single channel this wouldn't be any different with series or parallel my mistake) channel. The amp you bought suggests you didn't want to wire the under seats in stereo , unless you are loosing the rear seats and buying a true trunk sub. I guess it could still be parallel or series on one channel then you could do a resistance measurement from the bass channel to see if its around 2 ohms for parallel. You will have to unplug the fuse to the amp to measure this. That's why there is no substitute for doing this yourself. Best to inspect the wiring at the amp and amp connector. Or you could ask the guy? Most here think the under seats should remain in stereo. Some have suggested -3db for the door mounted crossovers. If you look at the manual for the xd 700/5 it has two sets of terminals on the single bass channel for two speakers. If the all the terminals are full on that channel they are wired correctly in parallel . Last edited by ctuna; 03-21-2014 at 09:13 PM.. |

awesome, thanks Tai…all of the terminals are being used for the single bass channel so i'm hoping this means its correct.
Your thinking 150 at +/-24 db for the crossover at the underseats/morels? should I set the under seats at a high pass of 80? 100? I know the SWS's have trouble going this high |

The subs are most likely wired in parallel. Incompetent installers usually wire everything in parallel.
For the crossovers I have mine at 200hz, but since you have the sws8's it would be better to cross them over as low as possible. |

Yep, thats how the channels are setup..For some reason the tool that JL gave me to get into the amp settings isn't meshing with the screws..gonna need to figure out how to get in there somehow..review still waiting to come.
