i have an 07 E92 335i coupe that came with factory sport package, after 50,000 miles, i felt it was time to buy new shocks. I had the 19" M6 reps on the car before and ran Nankang NS2 235/35/19 and 265/30/19s , the ride was terrible, i live in NYC so theres a pothole on every block and every highway, everytime i hit even a small pothole i felt it thru the cabin and into my bones. it was so harsh it felt like someone was taking a sledge hammer and smashing it against my wheels, after cracking 1 front rim and denting another one i bought the new Koni Adjustables, i had them installed and left it on the softest settings, I used the OEM Bmw sport springs,to my surprise the ride was STILL TERRIBLE, i am highly disappointed to the point i want to just sell the car. The car had just under 60,000 miles when i installed the new Konis ,I now have 19" Breyton Spirit2s with General Exclaim UHP 235/35/19 and 265/30/19, the ride only got a tiny bit better after the new suspension, but i can still feel every bump and every pothole, the handling isnt so much better either but i guess thats because i have it set to softest setting. Does anyone else have the same setup? Driving this car, it DOES NOT FEEL LIKE A CAR THAT HAS NEW SHOCKS/STRUS, Ive had a brand new E60 5 series sedan with 19" rims and OEM suspension and i didnt feel every bump or potholes.

Koni Sport is a SPORT suspension, it's not really meant to go over potholes. It's 15-20% stiffer than stock even at the softest settings (answer received from Koni representative).

This being said, you may actually try to increase the damping force and the car may actually ride better. If the softest settings are meant for the stock springs and you are using it with ZSP springs, the suspension may be underdamped and behave like you would have worn shocks. Try moving the adjusters in the middle of the range, before selling the car It may not work, however. In this case, you may want to replace the Koni Sport with Koni FSD.

Your M5 probably didn't have 30 and 35 mm sidewalls either. those are some low profile tires you are running. As mentioned above go with 18" and a taller sidewall. As mentioned above the Koni dampers are not only stiffer than the zsp dampers that you took off the car, they are not designed to be paired with your zsp springs, which is probably exacterbating the problem.

If ride comfort is your priority, Koni FSD's with 17 or 18 inch wheels would serve you better. I've had FSD's and Sports with ZSP springs. Try turning up the rebound damping; maybe that'll help. After lots of experimentation, I like the struts set at 1.5 full turns from soft and the shocks at 3/4 full turn from soft. g/l

I have FSD + Eibach Spring + 18" wheel. I drive in NJ and NYC. I can tell you it is not pleasant going through the bumps on the road either. But then I drove a fairly new 328i loaner before that has non-sport suspension and it is still stiff compare to my wife's new MB C300 Sport.

FSD's are designed for stock springs - may be the problem.
