Amsoil cheaper than Castrol
I'm getting ready to make an oil change to a 2006 330i, this is going to be my second oil change as onwer of the vehicle. I did the first oil change with Amsoil European Formula 5W-40 and I didn't have any trouble with it, I've also discovered that Amsoil is cheaper than Castrol Edge here in my country:
Amsoil European Formula 5W-40 Costs $ 9.00 a quart Castrol EDGE 5W-40 Costs $12.00 a quart What do you guys recomends, should I stay with Amsoil (cheaper) or get the Castrol for the nexts oil changes?? Thanks |

Is that the only Castrol Edge you get locally? I know we have the 5W-40 which is always more expensive than the 0W-40 which also carries an LL-01 approval.
Here in Seattle, a quart of 5W-40 is $10 whereas I can get 5 quart jugs of the 0W-40 for $25 each. |

any long term experience with the Amsoil 5w40? I went to the local Castrol dealer and checked that they have only a 5w40 that says "Edge with SPT" and in the backside says recomended (Not approved) for LL01, has some one used EDGE with SPT?

Edge with SPT is not sold in north america, so not many people will have experience with it. Most Castrol bottle make no reference whatsoever to LL01, so if this one does, even obliquely, it's probably fine.

Any clue why the SPT is not sold in North America? I read the bottle and it says that is manufactured in Canada |
