Tag Heuer Carrera
In need of some advice!
There's a guy up near me who is selling his Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph. Its a 2005 model, spotless, boxed, comes with warranty card and owners book. It feels weighted, and the glass back shows the movement etc. It has a serial number of the case, and it all looks very genuine. However I'm a tad apprehensive when it comes to buying it. I really like it, and the price seems fair. He's asking £700 for it. Was £800 but he's going to pay to get it deep cleaned etc before he hands it over. What you reckon I should do? Whats the best way to check its authenticity? Any help appreciated. Scott |

I dont know about that exact model, but the glass caseback is a straight-away alarmbell ringer for me... fakers favourite. Post pics and it should be fairly easy to work it out if its real or not.

take to your nearest Tag dealer and say to him, bluff or not you want them to check it out, if its real you'll pay him straight away if he says nope, you would have saved quite a bit of money. TBH with that much money changing hands i'd rather buy it from a genuine dealer, you will always have that doubt in your mind !!

If he sends it into an authorised dealer/repair centre for deep cleaning ( and I'd insist he does) they should check it authenticity

I've just been looking at the latest carrera, very nice. Get him to go with you to dealers and then you'll know. Tags are so popular fakes are everywhere and good ones too.
Goldsmiths do 0% interest over upto 3yrs, go get a new one they're around £2k depending which model you want. I'm getting a breitling aerospace professional has i already have a tag. |

I did look at this option, but I'm not too keen taking out more finance at the moment.
I'll ask him to meet me at a tag retailer in Edinburgh, if he wont, then I guess it shows that its not legit. |

Having dealt with this company in the past I know for a fact they would not touch a replica. You can also phone LVMH and give them the serial number of the watch and they can check it's authenticity. LVMH: 01204 861 168 Hope this helps.

You have to be careful. There are some very very good reps, like this one...
http://www.sinowatches.com/show_prod...?productid=700 Phone tag check the serial no. If you want a new one, then best place is the tag outlet, on a few outlet parks. There's one near me, called cheshire oaks outlet village.

Hi Masterplan,
I have a Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph from 2007 and it does NOT have a glass back - might just be a slightly different model or something though? I got mine new from an official Tag retailer. John

fuck me this watch is popular at the moment..
i'm thinking of getting one when i'm paid.. was going to do 2yrs 0% but 3yrs 0%!! i'm on that in a flash... when you consider you're likely to keep something like this for 10 to 15 years AT LEAST.. £2k on 0% over 3 yrs for a new one is very very difficult to get out of your mind. i am struggling :s |
