Projector out of place

Hello everyone,

I just bought a used 2007 BMW 335i with the adaptive HID headlights. I have included 4 pictures below of my driver's side headlight. As you can see the projector is out of place behind the shroud. What is weird is the fact that the light on that side still steers when making a turn. I have confirmed this by parking in front of a wall and then turning the wheel in both directions. However when the wheel is in a middle position the projector is pointing far to the passenger's side. I am not getting any type of adaptive failure LED and again the light does move when making turns....Does anyone know why this is happening? Is there a fix that can be done to somehow get the adaptive system to put the projector back in place? Or does the whole headlight assembly more than likely need to be replaced?

Mine was the same way. From the wheel well, take the back cover of the headlight off and push the bulb housing forward. You will hear a click and it will be back in place. It seems that your previous owner hit a big hole or something and they came dislodged.

I have this problem on my passenger side headlight. It happened after i hit a bad pothole.

But if it only slides freely up down if I use my finger from the wheel well. I couldn't get it to "click" in like you described and I didn't want to use much force too.

Hey how much pressure should be applied? Im thinking if the projector is sensitive enough to get knocked out of place by a pothole that it can probably be easily broken...and I see these headlights run over $500-600 USED on ebay and over $1500 brand new...

I have another question about this. I finally got around to getting everything taken apart to get to the housing and the side thats out of place seems to be loose inside the housing....as in I can move the projector up and down with my finger where as the passenger's side which works fine seems to be in place and doesnt move...is there anything else I can try?
