Shark Fin Antenna
If you delete the sat radio will this antenna be deleted as well or is it needed for the iDrive and nav package? Thanks.

As I understand it, the shark fin is only for satellite and is deleted with the sat deletion available (only) on the E93. I can't see any reason for the sat deletion except to remove the shark fin from the trunk lid.

^^ Also ALL (US) 07 3 series come standard with Sat. Prep. (which was a $75 option last year) therefore ALL US people will get the fin because that is where the antenna is. So you are SOL to try and order one with out it. I guess you could remove it yourself then bondo and paint the hole.

From what I understand the shark fin is only needed for mobile phone use.
I have sat nav on my M3, radio antenna is is embedded in the reer windowscreen, I have no shark antenna, so correct me if I`am wrong.........................everything works just perfectly............... |

I appreciate all the replies but clearly there are numerous opinions about the shark fin antenna. jmonier is right, there is a sat radio prep delete available for the E93. I had heard that this will delete the shark fin, this what I was trying to confirm. However, seems like an antenna would still be needed for the Nav system.

The US Guide to the E-93 clearly states that the shark fin is standard, but can be deleted at no cost. The Am/FM antenna is embedded in the vehicle, and does not need the shark fin to operate. On the E-93 the shark fin is only used for satellite communication.

and as everyone is aware, I'm sure, the BMW shark fin had been demonstrated to provide increased stability when driving at high speeds....

Adaptive Sharkfin
I propose that BMW include an "adaptive sharkfin" on the M. The adaptive fin would turn with the steering wheel. Surely this could help keep the roof in line with the rest of the body during high speed cornernig.
