E46 M3's going up in value...?!!

Had my car 7 months, now in need of rear tyres and an Insp II, and I have been offered £500 more than what I paid for my car in Feb.

I've done a fair few miles too since then (its a daily), in my books that ain't bad..

A friend was looking at M3 verts and they were not brilliant.
So he offered me a good price for mine, (even though it's a Coupe) and if I was a sensible chap I would have sold it late last week. Not so much for the small profit but for the fact (apart from fuel) I wouldn't have lost anything on the M3.

But I'm not sensible (thats why I bought an M3 in the first place) and I'm in love with her so she is staying

Here is a pic of my p&J

Some action shots

So it's true, your car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it!! Keep looking after your cars guys & girls.

Ps I know in reality I would lose money generally speaking (if a mate wasn't interested) But I'm not bothered. Still enjoying the car.

The problem is if you'd decided to sell what the hell would you replace it with without spending a heap more money that's gonna tick all the boxes like your M3.

Keep it and don't mod it and it will hold it's value. I have the occasional look through the classifieds and have noticed depreciation on these has been flat for the last year.

any good car as it gets older and if there is a demand in the market - the price will go up.

there are tons of e46 m3s on the market. I wouldn't touch 90% of them. The 10% that i would will have a premium since those owners know that they have a gem and a lot of people who are into cars will only be interested in them.

holla shot calla, dipping in the bimmy.

Argghh - hate this, as makes me want to go and buy one!! Keep thinking, spend £10k, have a few thrills, but just had my first baby last month and work commute looking to double in a few months!!!

Although, the wife has an e90 and I will get mileage allowance for a year...and the cycle of trying to rationalise continues...

Imo you're right, there is a firming of prices. The E46 ran the classic six before the move to V8 and now of course turbos.

There is therefore a core of enthusiasts (I include myself) that would view your car as the last true M3.

It's gonna appreciate from here on in....

Better car then the E92, better car than the E36, better looking car than either too.

It is going to be a classic. The only downside is the fact it was so good and sold so many in the first place, if it had been a niche at the time it would have been appreciating far quicker by now.
