My only problem with the tablet is that it's a little old-tech. It doesn't look as slick as I would like.
I would happily pay $400 for the functionality but I would much rather use a laptop or more mainstream tablet to do the work.

A quick question for Rombinhood:

With this piece of kit would i be able to modify the angel eye voltage?
I know in the E92 there is two data areas, one for DLR voltage (5v) and one for sidelight voltage (3.5v). As soon as the xenon lights come on the halogen ring light dips sligthly as it moves onto the sidelight voltage setpoint.
H8 bulbs like the Arc Angels would look great with a voltage bump. Would certainly be a better solution than the shoddy cree LED solutions.
I think this functionality would be another great selling point, especially the ability to stop the ring lights dimming when mainbeam is active.
Why don't you just buy a $30 INPA K+DCAN cable and download BMW Coding Tools? Yes, it would be easy to add canned solutions to write changes to other ECUs, but that's a little out of scope don't you think.

If you really want nice looking angels, stop playing and go get the 35w HID kit from DDM Tuning for $30. Disable error checking and dimming, then set soft on to hard.

I'm not bothered about the angels for the Z4 just yet, I'm not familiar at all with their setup. I mentioned it because a feature like that would be a unique selling point for the E92 market.

Normally I'd just be after a tune but this looks more interesting. I enjoy messing around with anything that can be programmed. I'll probably buy the unit itself when I get the car but if there's any way of doing the same thing with a nice tidy netbook I'd be all over it.

The thing I like most about this is that the map is transparent. I'm sick of playing roulette with tuners. Sometimes you get a good one that improves the whole driving experience of the car and other times you get some chump who just jacks up the boost.
It's nice to know the map you apply is more than just +fuel +boost.

Received my OpenFlash Tablet and DCI from Vishnu. First off I am extremely happy with the customer service they provided. Shipping to Canada was unreal... Shipped out on Friday the 23rd and it arrived today the 28th with USPS to Canada Post, with no duties I should mention .

Install was very straight forward and simple for the tablet and the DCI.

A few words of advice.
For the intakes: Have a can of brake cleaner ready and spray the metal coupler and wipe it down. I also sprayed some onto a paper towel and wiped the inside connector part of the intake. This allows the metal coupler to sit snugly and not slip out do to the oil on the intakes.

For the tablet: My battery is completely dead and resets the clock every time I start the car; so I used a trickle charger at 12A to keep the car alive during the read and write process. Make sure that you DO NOT open and close the door at anytime after you have started reading because the car turns off, took me three tries before realizing this LOL.

As far as the tune and intakes themselves, I immediately noticed a much sharper throttle response, and that beloved turbo spool and "woosh" sound everyone loves. Haven't really gotten a chance to open the car up yet due to traffic but traction control kicked in after a an accelerated turn which made me quite happy because there was some serious power available at the pedal.

I want to thank everyone at Vishnu for this awesome product and I'll be posting up a data log soon!

Didn't want to post a new thread regarding coding with the Openflash tablet so I'll ask here. Is it possible to have the openflash tablet reset the FRM because one of my angel eyes is out and multimeter confirmed no power to the drivers side H8 plug.

Thank you for the wonderful review! Makes us happy

The OFT doesn't support vehicle coding yet but it is definitely something that is being looked into.

Hey Shiv! I hope all is well. I took the car in for a waterpump replacement, and the guys at the shop were asking what I had done to the car. They were surprised to hear it is all stock, except for the OFT. Needless to say, their test run was a little surprising.

I wanted to check in to see how the progress is coming along on the E30 map. I'm dying to try it out, especially with this hot weather heat soaking the factory i/c.

Thanks again Shiv!

Just a heads up, OpenFlash data logs should upload fine now to www.datazap.me without any changes to the file. If anyone has an extra log or two to test out please do so, or just attach them to a post and i'll give it a whirl. I just tested myself with a couple and it worked flawlessly

Just finished reading the whole thread (well not all the trolling), and I haven't seen any recent mentioning of the eco map. Is that still in the works or not really a priority?

Also, just to clarify, data logging is not up yet?

Yeah, data logging is available and has been for a while.

no ECO map sadly, E30 map was in the work August like 8th, 2013...was estimated to release in a "few weeks", it's been 2 months almost now, not even an update...which worries me as I feel like JB4 would have been a better route for me.

Ok, i read the thread over a few days, and got a little confused on the data logging. I should probably go back and re-read that first post again!

Shiv, will an "E30" map work with my mods, or would you say I need catless downpipes?

Are DCI's required to run the tablet? What mods are required for each stage?

Really depends on the fuel you have. I've ran Stage 1 on cars that are basically stock with only a drop in K&N filter without any issues. The cars pull really hard and the owners are very happy with the results. So if you load up stage 1 and it's too aggressive, you can always drop back to stage 0 until you get supporting mods.
