HG! That's a rare bird repair. That's some good work, there.

You get a chance to see the mag/Alu joint?

My early production December 2004 build E90 330i is now on 110k miles.

Nothing major has been replaced according to its BMW service history. I believe it has a minor oil filter housing gasket leak, and a quiet-ish whining noise is heard on med-full steering lock.

just hit 163k miles or 263k KM on my e90 325i late 06 build, it's scheduled for valve stem replacement next week as all leaks have been fixed but it gets burned in the stems. Burns about 1.5 litres in 3500-4000 KM.

Interesting , valve stem problems. Tell me how did your mechanic identify this as the problem vs some other failure such as a faulty PCV?

PCV was recently replaced and it didn't cure the problem! I have two other friends in Romania with n52's and after replacing their valve stem seals their consumption decreased to 500ML/8000 km. Both of their cars had lower mileage than mine and the seals looked enlarged and degraded. Oh and a lot of white smoke.

Yes, you can see the joint but you have to want to find it. Cleaning the block a little and knowing where to look, helps. If I get a chance again, I'll remember to take a pic and post.

Sometimes, it can be a full time project, though. Keeping ahead of parts before they fail or show sign. My wife hates it but for ME, at this point it's not worth getting rid of. It's basically becoming a new car and hard to walk away from. Paid off years ago....

All wives/gfs be hating on fun time in the garage. But when it's time hang curtains, look out, they've got a million ideas!

144K on my 07 xdrive wagon 6MT. Will probably be racking up fewer miles this year than the last few, as I just picked up an '02 325ci convertible to replace the jeep.

now how do i get all the e9x awesomeness into my e46??? i miss the dynamic headlights, 3-flashes on the turn signal, the better OBC...

08 335 with 95k on the clock! max modded early way to much to list . This car takes a beating 2 nossel meth VP M1, usually has 100vp race gas. Mmp inlets let me consistently hit 20psi on long pulls. Turbos are the only thing stock on this car I've replaced everything everyone has listed plus a lot more just because I love to turn wrenches. oil tested alot over the years i credit Amsoil 0-40 for my motor not blowing up . Keep the oil changed alot sooner than later👍

I've found that my wife never has an issue with my garage time when it is her Z3 being worked on (like last year when I pull the valve cover, timing case, and OFH to seal the engine back up). No working on one of my three cars... different issue

I know how you feel. I loved my E46M, but now that I have the E90 I really appreciate the thoroughness of the e90 upgrades along with it feeling like a relative tank.

Maybe I should just 'give' them all to her? That way I'm always working on 'her' cars. I'll be happy, she'll be happy...but indeed to convince her she 'wants' a race car. Haha
