Nexus 7 for the car?
Hey Guys!
Im looking to invest in a 7" tablet for my car! Mainly for music and maps (sync with my phone hotspot). Im a total apple geek, everything I use is apple however I wanted something a little different. I bought my girlfriend the ipad mini and it was just the same... the same as my iphone and my ipad... nothing really new... Whats stands out for me is the Nexus 7's interface! It looks good, good for advanced users and I wanted bluetooth to stream my music (I have a bluetooth dongle in my car). I guess price is a little better than the ipad mini too! Can anyone recommend the Nexus 7? or perhaps an alternative? Thanks for your time! I was looking for a setup similar to this: Last edited by 1sh@Crystalwhite; 09-05-2013 at 03:19 PM.. |

I use my nexus 7 in the car all the time, although I don't have it mounted, I have it running CamerAlert (speed cams) & shove it between the seat & centre console. They're a great bit of kit though & I wouldn't be without mine & it works very well tethered to my SGS3

I know this might seem pretty petty but I wanted a tablet that would fill the entirety (or close to) of the screen. The only thing holding me back is this! |

They are a lovely little tablet. I use mine every day but not for what you're after unfortunately. That said, my 5yo has been known to sit in the back watching a movie and listening to the audio over the car's Bluetooth.

screen size is similar to the pro nav & probably higher res, so no problem. I carry it round most of the time & use it for business (calendar & email) & surfing etc. I don't want a bigger tablet because it's so easy & light to carry round, it's so good & useful I'm even considering investing in the new Nexus 7

I would, in a heart beat install the nexus 7 if there was a non intrusive way of mounting. I have the CCC idrive and while the concept is nice (CIC is better, but still only mimicing what the nexus 7 can do)... tech has obviously moved on a great deal... and I could have all of my multimedia needs catered for by this device

I have a Nexus 7 since launch and its great.
But I only use it for YouTube, everything else its a bit small for web. There is a new one out so might worth getting that one? Bit quicker, better screen and similar price.

Thanks for all your feedback guys! So I went to PC World to have a look at it! I
wasn't too impressed... There was something lacking and I cant quite put my finger on it! Maybe it's screen size? I played around with the mini again and that 0.9" screen size makes a difference... Maybe I might get the older version of the nexus? Since it'll mainly be for car use/ maps! Hmmm |

Thanks Rich! I did consider getting a large phone, but Id hate to carry it around with me all the time and it would get rather cumbersome! I think my iphone 4S will do for now but thanks for the links! I ended up going for the 2012 nexus 7 which is on sale! Great device! |
