Doesn't help our cars to run any better though.

Thanks ToadHollow. I appreciate the info. I am glad we don't have to use blended fuel here. I wonder if we have a HPFP failure rate as high as areas with blended fuel.

...and an early welcome to San Antonio. I just moved back to SA in 2006 and I really do like it here.

I've kept tabs on the threads within this forum and it really seems as though the failure rate is more closely related to the "part bins" related to both the HPFP's already installed on the cars as well as the replacements implemented.

I have commented .........somewhere .... that one of the very first things any BMW dealer will do when diagnosing a vehicle experiencing a "drivability issue" is check the fuel content.

This check is to ensure the ethanol content (if any found) is within the "acceptable" range. BMW recommends fuel be used from the "Top Tier Gas" list of companies. http://www.toptiergas.com/index.html

Some here believe this a ploy developed by the named retailers for financial gains etc. I happen to believe the list exists to help owners of vehicles such as ours to become better informed as to the importance of maintaining a car in every aspect.

That having been said, dealers know which fuel retailers are acceptable. If a high content of ethanol is found to be in your vehicle's fuel then it's a VERY valid argument for the dealer to use in determining the validity of your warranty when determining the "drivability/mechanical" issues with your car.

In my area, Shell/Texaco/Chevron (in this order) are the ONLY fuel retailers I will use.

Thanks for the "early welcome" ........ I have a brother in Austin and have determined that BMW of Austin will be "my" dealer ....

Besides, they're seemingly mod-friendly and a Dinan equipped car dealer. One of only two in the state ....... the other being in Plano, TX.

I am for sure!!!! Should get my interior trim back from BavarianX this week, and all my mods will be done (except for the M3 skirts).

We should shoot for a Saturday afternoon when it's still light out.

Hey I went that thread but I didn't see any date of when that is.... I will be going on a vacation to California the March 4th-17th so if its one of those days I cant make it... but..... if its any other day I would so not mind going as long as we return back to SA after.. if I read correctly "Fast1" said the price shouldnt be more than $150.00 per car... since Im not getn my 135i till the end of this year, I would not mind riding passenger with someone and Id pay half of the $150.00 as long as theres not an extra charge for me riding passenger n stuff.. btw Ill be getn a Nikon D90 also so may be able to take it with me to this event, depending on when it is...

Let me know. Thanks.

New here

Just got stationed at Ft. Sam after being away for the last 5 years. I was born and raised here and now I am back! I have a 08' 328i Montego Blue (family car) and a 06' Eclipse GT (My car.) I just moved near Heimer and Brook Hollow. Anyway, glad to be back.

Now on to the questions. I got my BMW in Germany through the military deal and this is my first BMW. I notice that my A/C stinks for the first 2-3 minutes of use(only noticed it when I moved here). Anyone else have this going on? I don't know if it's b/c of the move to Texas and the air is different or what. Also, how is the dealership here? I see some of you all are going to use the one in Austin. Thanks for any help everyone and I look foward to some meets down the road.

SA BMW M3 Meet/ And other cars welcome
"Okay!!! Feb. 28th is the day of the meet gentlemen.

We will be meeting at the Forum Shopping Center off of IH-35 at 11am in the morning at the Parking lot right in front of BORDERS bookstore. From there we will go out to eat near downtown and then do a photo shoot at the alamo and cruise the rest of the day.

We will see what everyone wants to do once we get free time... we can either hit up leakey texas for some good turns or just cruise around and take some video."

I'm stationed at fort sam myself. And I also bought my car in Germany, and yes my ac did stink a little when I first got it (took delivery in houston) BMW san antonio isn't bad when it comes to scheduled service. I've brought in my modded car for service and the SA didn't really care, but warranty work is a different question.

I might stop by for a while at the Forum just to check things out. On Fridays a bunch of my honda and mitsubishi buds meet up at Biffs behind the Whatatburger at 35N and topperwein. Anyone interested in coming this friday, I'll be up there around 9 or so. There are tons of other cars there as well, I dont see much bimmers though.
