new here.... got my 335i a month ago, i checked my maintenance history, the software was updated when the hpfp was replaced, i felt really power less when the engine is running under 3k rpm on first and second gear.... is it because the software update to stop the wastegate rattle?
i am pretty sure installing the AP will definitely bring back the power, but will it also bring back the wastegate rattle? |

Anyone experience SES light on with codes Pp2ef4, P0128, Map controlled temperature failure and thermostat temp running lower than normal operating temp? Is the thermostat stuck open? When I remove the Cobb tune from the car and drive no codes appear. Why is Cobb making codes appear? Any help from Cobb team would be appreciated

Hi, so equipped with v4.00 which is pulling smoother and more like the original stock linear N/A feeling, just 'more'.
Since I got the cobb though I've read about 'pulling timing'. Is that what I have here, or is this just mistiming introduced to impart a burble and rortiness into the engine note? The engine became naughtier sounding a few years ago when my WG upgrade was done and I'd assumed that some new bmw software deployed at that time introduced that, but this seems to be a COBB thing too. Anyhow, no codes or anything, and otherwise happy. See attached for a various second and third gear pulls. Is this normal? Cheers Chris P.m. forgot to add, keen to know before I start chucking LSD and suspension onto the car. Cheers |

Beta maps and Beta firmware
Pretty new to using AP (had for 3 wks or so) and have a question...
I'm trying to test out the new 4.00 maps. I'm currently running firmware 1.6.5.0-3122 and was trying to update to Beta firmware 1.6.5.0-3587 but it's failing. Do I even need to do this to try out the 4.00 maps or can I just download the maps and use them with -3122? Thanks for the help!! |

Ran S2+Sport quite hard this evening... no erros or hiccups... runs great! Here is a log from this morning... it's a 2nd/3rd gear run from a dig. As you can see, I couldn't just mash the pedal down because I lose traction (even easing it in like I did, I was still losing traction... but eventually hooked up in 3rd)
I just had a couple questions on how to interpret some of the data... I don't know what any of the variables signify in this first graph I made... And just wanted to see what you guys thought about the timing... I had some issues with timing earlier on (we thought it was due to bad gas)... right now since I'm running Sport map and changed gas stations (Shell 93), the timing is improved... is this a reasonable timing curve? Thanks!

I have 32k miles on my original plugs and maybe I'm luckier than others but worth asking.

About a week ago I started getting long cranks and checked for codes and I had a "HPFP plausibility" code... I uninstalled the Cobb, but the long cranks went away and the code didn't come back for a week. I just re-installed the Cobb last night with v400 and I still have no long cranks (haven't checked for codes yet). Here's the HPFP info from that run... didn't get the LPFP...

I'd send this data over to Cobb and see if they can confirm your HPFP's not up to the task. Right now it's pure speculation but if your plugs are reasonably new, you're running 93 octane gas, have all the supporting mods, it's time to start exploring the idea of your hardware going out.

Thanks bro... I just e-mailed the datalog to Rob... I was hoping to get a new HPFP, but without being able to reproduce the long cranks or get any HPFP codes while running stock, I don't think BMW will change the pump =/

If you threw a 2FBF code, then take that thing to the dealer and get yourself a new pump!

Maybe I DO need new plugs... I know some of the highly modded Subaru guys change their plugs every 10-12k miles.

Question for Cobb... Are there any known compatibility issues with your maps and the latest BMW software version? |

as a general rule the Cobb ran more boost, more fuel, and less advance compared to the JB4. The Stage2+ map is definitely much more aggressive with a peak of 18.5psi compared to JB4 map 2's peak of only 14.5psi, but the JB4 runs a lot more advance and is actually very close in terms of power output from 5000rpm+. The range you'll be operating in during a race. IMHO despite the torque disadvantage the JB4 map 2 feels better around town due to the really poor throttle mapping of the Cobb Stage2+. any thought on these words or the showed dynos? |

- If your ROM is not recognized i would do the update of firmware through laptop and try again. - if its still not recognized follow the instructions on their site in how to mail them your Rom If you manage to install it plug it again to your laptop. you will see what rom you have, download the maps you want and flash it in. Done
