Sadly that idea did not pan out. Still trying to see if any other options exist.

I sure hope something comes along. After driving some of the newer 8 speeds in Audi and Jaguar, the slow shifting is very annoying. Both of those were ZF 8 speeds, no reason that I can see that the ZF 6 speed couldnt shift just as crisply as the zf 8 speed

I just drove an x1 bmw loaner with the 8 speed it was awesome, and that little car moved with 241hp, needless to say I hated it over the 335d...

You ain't kidding. My wife's 2010 TDI w/the DSG has a better sport mode than this car. It's depressing.....

The DSG is the premier auto in the business, ask Porsche why they use it...

well the DSG is basically a manual transmission, doesnt have much in common with our 6 speeds aside from shifting automatically. Its the same design more or less as the DCT for BMW, DPK for Porsche, etc.. The ZF 8 speed in the Audi and Jag (presumably shifts the same in the newer BMW ZF 8 speeds) is a traditional auto just like ours but it must be programmed for way more crisp shifting

Lately I've been using manual mode more and more.
What really bothers me is the lack of smoothness, whether I have it on D, DS or M the car insists on jumping a lot on the first 3 gears. I have 200.000km on the counter, maybe that's the issue? |

D - worst throttle lag of the three (gets worse after adaptation settings are set) DS - jumpy at start w/ or w/o JBD, no matter how you apply the throttle M - still noticeable throttle lag but the setting I use most of the time We just have to live with a shitty gearbox, that's all.

I honestly dont think the box is the issue, it seems like its the programming. I havent noticed anything that I would label as the fault of the transmission, awkward TC lockups and jumpiness are usually the result of programming since the shift pressures and TC lockup command is coming from the computer. When its programmed right you wont even feel the TC lock up, like it is in higher gears, but for some reason 2nd and 3rd gear TC lockup can be really abrupt

Ill be very interested in a Flash for the 335d gearbox is anything ever comes up! What about using something from the new Alpina D3, which uses the same engine as the 335d's and a 6 speed box (I think) so that might be an idea????

Unfortunately for us, the D3 uses a 4 pot and 8 speed gearbox.

I agree with others. It is the programming. I have never had a transmission take forever on the torque converter lockup. I can only imagine that this programming is doing to the clutch packs.
The latest software does help a lot with the "slipping feel". However, my big Duramax diesel truck and my little TDI's with DSG feel superior to the transmission on my 335d. I think programming would help a LOT. -Ed

100% The 6HP26 is used in many performance vehicles and only differs from 6HP19 used by gasser 335's in it's strength.
I'll try throwing a few more flashes at it to see if anything good sticks.

If/when it comes available you will be able to benefit from it. The only change i could see a DDE tune adjusting would be the requested torque (i think that's the parameter) during a shift.
