New Mini Cooper

Sorry its not a proper BMW.

I have to say that I am quite impressed with the new Cooper, it goes well and looks good. Even the Miswah seems to like it - good job because it was bought primarily for her! My only disappointment is that it is an automatic. The box is actually very good, complete with paddle shift - just like my much lamented 335d , but the car would suit a manual box better. Decision to go for auto was not mine!

Very pleased with the Chili Red colour, why pay an extra £300 for metallic? The alloys look great and are very distinctive, I like the interior and glad i chose the red leather inserts - the Miswah doesnt approve! Driving lamps also make it look slightly different.

Pics of the new GL to follow in 2 weeks!

Congratulations Peter - I think it looks really cool and I do like the interior colours. I reckon you could have some fun throwing that car about

Its a bigger car than the name suggests. In the garage it fills the space lenght wise, it seems to have a bit more 'presence' than I thought it would. I am actually very pleased with it. As far as the paint is concerned I havent looked that closely. It is flat so it should be ok. It was only built in Feb so there is not much that could have spoilt it so far!

Peter,

Looks very smart I am a big fan of the new mini generation 2 and either your red or cream with black roof would be my choice. I like the red on the inside and it's far more interesting on a fun car than just plain black.

Your 17" alloys set the car of nicely if only it was a manual it would be spot on for me. Spot lights how much do they cost fitted?

Enjoy your new car I am sure it will give you fun motoring. I assume you got the tlc pack but I wonder if you will keep it long enough for a service.

Nice Mini Peter!

Saw a couple of other 08 Mini's whilst picking up my motor this morning. Love the wheels and think it will look much better beside the Black GL (rather than the silver Disco)

Cheers Gibbo. The spots were about £250 fitted, I think. It's on the invoice and I can't recall the exact figure. They do look good though, in my opinion! I don't suspect I will not drive it that much, Mrs is likely to drive it for the vast majority of the time on the school run and to work, thereby saving the planet!! (until the GL arrives, then the planet can stand by!). We got the TLC pack thrown in by the dealer, he also made a mistake on the VED rate on the original order form (failing to take account of the auto box and higher VED band). I did notice at the time, said nothing of course, and it appeared as an additional £25 discount on todays sales invoice

I suspect we will keep it for the first service at the very least!

Thanks JackMac! Regretably mine is just an MC, as opposed to an MCS, and my SUV is a Discovery 3, as opposed to an LR3!

The Discovery 3 is marketed in the US as the LR3.

Looks very smart Peter...congrats. Brings back some fond memories of mine, and some not so fond... (when the chrome door handles used to give me static shocks!)
