The question you should be asking is will it work and what are the side effects.
The system you start out with will effect what you need to do . There are three factory systems that are common in the US currently. Hi Fi , Top Hi Fi or l7 and base . The base has no amp . The L7 uses fiber optics to the amp which renders it useless with and aftermarket head unit.
