Vented Hoods and Alberta Winters

Hi all,

I had a chance to pick up a Vorsteiner vented hood from a part out a few weeks ago. Got the hood on now and it runs 10 degrees cooler on the highway.

Now that the weather is getting cooler I am wondering if I should be using it in the winter. I park in a garage but I'll leave it in an open air parking lot overnight 4 times a month.

The vents are open and they dont make covers anymore. Ive heard of the blue tape idea and I may do this if I'm too lazy to put the stock back on but I wonder if it will help overnight.

Any people in Alberta running a vented hood on their 3 series? Id also be interested in the dealerships opinion on these hoods as I have an oil change coming up.

The car is a E90 335xi BTW.

I highly suggest you put your stock back on before winter hits.

i have a 335xi with a single sided cf vorstseiner hood. i simply do not leave it out in the cold very long. we get a good amount of snow here in iowa during the winter. my hood does fine when i go for winter cruises without stopping or a quick run to the store (even if its snowing out).

i think it should be fine in the open air garage overnight, just as long as snow or ice doesn't sit on it (make sure to clean it off if it has accumulated from driving).

i did the blue tape thing for a bit when i wanted to run my car through automated car washes, but i dont do it anymore. it ended up leaving some tape residue overtime and it was a pain in the butt.
