Rear Sway Bar to match BMW PS

Hi All,

Coming from standard suspension, I've purchased the BMW Performance Suspension. It doesn't come with a rear sway bar.

Should I consider replacing my rear sway bar when I install the rest of the PS? Will the car feel weird with the performance front sway bar paired with the standard rear sway bar?

That's deliberate. It's designed to work this way and doesn't require a change to the rear ARB. Drove a Sports model for a while and changed to PS for a couple of years and it was a huge improvement. Still haven't change the rear ARB as there's no reason to do so. Lots more important stuff to address than the rear bar, really.

Oh so even with my current non-sport rear ARB/Sway bar, You don't think the car will feel funny? I guess I'm not sure if the PE is intended to be installed on a Sport Suspension car or a Standard Suspension car.

The PS replaces all the parts in the suspension regardless of sport or non-sport.

And we have the exact same car and I've tracked the shit out of mine and it handles very well. All the other stuff that're much more important than the ARBs has been incrementally upgraded and the handling only improves.

The car still has the PS front ARB and stock rear ARB and I've no intention of changing them for anything. The spring rates were designed around them, more or less, so there's no reason at all. I did replace the front ARB bushings with Group N parts though pretty much for the hell of it though.

Ahhh. I thought the sport and standard rear sway bars were different but I see now there is no special sport package rear sway bar, only BMW p/n 33556764425. So you are correct, I shouldn't worry about anything.

Thanks pete

I have had PS installed for 1.5 years, then i decided to have the car more stiff at the back during cornering, so went ahead and installed e93 M3 rear sway bar thats little over a year now... love it since

If you want better rear traction install LSD, not a bigger rear sway bar.

Certainly. I was just curious and didn't want the car to feel imbalanced. I'm not sure if traction will be a gigantic issue, given the raucous amount of torque the N52 is producing.

It seems to me if you don’t have a LSD then the last upgrade you would want is a firmer rear swaybar

Yah, I understand. I've done lots of work on cars but actually never touched the suspension in any of them so this is new territory for me. I guess there's no point in pulling traction away from the wheel with the power. Hadn't really thought through the mechanics of it when I first posted. My primary concern was that I'm going from the standard suspension, and not the sport suspension, to this new stuff.
